Honestly, the way we move on players with a poor attitude is a disgrace. Was it £24m for Trossard, £25m for Sanchez? Now potentially £9m for a player we got for nothing last summer who doesn't appear to fit? Rather than a flaw, looks more like decisive management generating good income for the club and future investment in the team.

The fees that are being generated are not thanks to RDZ. Him publicising these spats can only negatively impact those fees as buying clubs know there's pressure to get rid.

Three players already in a year and a half. Plus very public criticism of Baleba recently too. This is definitely not a strong point for Roberto, even if he's having these spats, they should be behind closed doors.

To be fair the Caicedo situation last January was handled much better. But in that case most of the blame was directed towards his agent and Moises was still performing brilliantly for us.

Dahoud didn't seem to suit English leagues pace or style wise. Glimpses that he could be decent at the right club abroad though. Thanks for filling in and the fact wages/bonuses look like fully covered by the fee (assuming he does well on loan and makes the move permanent).

Alzate reminds me a bit of Oliver Norwood. Could see him go be a very nice piece for a yoyo side or stay here as an excellent deep squad option. Probably needs to play more than he ever would here though to stay at that level and not good enough to play 6 sub appearances and a couple cup starts a season for us without that regular game-time to stay on form.

I don’t think RDZ has much to do with negotiating exits and fees. Public spats between bosses and staff are rarely healthy or positive so I do see it as a flaw. @Gabbiano has articulated this well.

DAHOUD MAKES BUNDESLIGA LOAN SWITCH

Midfielder Mahmoud Dahoud has joined Bundesliga side VfB Stuttgart on loan until the end of the season.

The 28-year-old German joined Albion in June last year from Borussia Dortmund and has made 14 appearances in all competitions for the club.

Technical director David Weir said, “This is a good move for Mahmoud. It will give him an opportunity to play regularly for a side doing very well towards the top of the Bundesliga. We wish him well for the rest of the campaign.”

He will be reunited in Stuttgart with fellow Albion loanee Deniz Undav, who has scored 12 Bundesliga goals so far this season.

Seems to me like a smart move for both player and club.
Our business model is inherently higher-risk than most. We’re trying to find gems where others aren’t looking and for the most part get it right.
Sometimes they won’t come off, can’t adapt to a style of play (or the pace of the prem), and it’s better to fail fast.

As others have said, there’s definitely talent there - but not with a pace & attitude that fitted an RdZ playing style. Real shame.

I'm disappointed this has not worked out. From what I read, and heard from friends, he should have been a good replacement for Ale Mac. Given he was not even making the bench recently, suggests a falling out with RDZ. Maybe he will get a second chance next season?

Unlikely, I reckon.

For that to happen Stuttgart will have declined the buy option, and RDZ will have left the Albion. I can't see a way back in for him with RDZ still the gaffer.

Crazy when you think this was a player RDZ identified as a someone who would fit his style.

Excellent passer and a very good first touch, but always looked short of the physicality required to play in midfield here.

And yet Gilmour seems to get along fine with similar attributes. There simply has to be more to this than just not up to it physically

I dont think there has been a spat with Dahoud at all. He's just not good enough and isnt a kid who can afford time to develop. I'm glad we've moved him on sharpish. Decisive management.

All this talk of RDZ falling out with players, IIRC Trossard fell out with the senior players because he wanted a move and wan't putting it in at training. I haven't read of any fallout with Dahoud, but there was talk of him not being capable of what RDZ wanted in training. And once Sanchez had been told he needed to improve his feet and refused to be a member of the match day squad, I don't know what else could have happened.

I believe that RDZ is very specific about what he wants from individuals and there is no doubt that he is extremely hard on the players in training (see Dunk's comments on the stick he gave JPVH), but I don't think there's any doubts that the results are there to see. I remember Billy Gilmour saying that RDZ told him exactly what was needed from him and how he had to work really hard every day to achieve it.

Could it be that those players weren't prepared for RDZ's intensity and demands in training ???
