I remember this feeling well. First season staying up obviously felt like a big deal and worth celebrating almost as much as promotion itself. Got a bit weary of it halfway through season 3 though, and discussions amongst mates was very much a case of relegation wouldn't be a disaster from a fans' point of view as it's much more fun going to a Championship game with a realistic hope scoring 3+ goals, rather than a hope that we might sneak a streaky 1-0 win or a useful point in the Premier League. The second and third seasons in the PL it felt like this is as far as little old Brighton are allowed to go. It looked impossible that we could ever compete against the big 6 and I wished we were back in the championship competing to win something on a far more level playing field. I did not enjoy it at all. Imagine a dozen years of that pointless grind with no hope in sight. Grim.
FFS @loz now I feel empathy for Palace fans.
Now we've obviously got the best of both worlds of being in the Premier League and still going into most games with realistic expectation that we might score 3+ goals
