This is such a sad thread after such a fantastic trip.
I can't understand why the Marseille police or stewards didn't act at the time and to think they let him back into his seat to have another go.
To me it would be nice if the French authorities picked up the case and prosecuted accordingly.

Reading this makes me angry, as everyone else has said, I hope the victim is doing ok - and really hope the club make a big statement about this kind of behaviour. Lifetime ban and public announcement that any of this sort of behaviour at home or away, in England or abroad, will be met with lifetime bans and zero tolerance.

Reading more and more about casual (yet excessive) violence at football and day to day makes me quite relieved and pleased I live in a country where this yobbish and Neanderthal behaviour generally doesn’t exist.

Poor bloke and family.
I have suffered with a scar on my brain for several years, all seems stable for now, but that’s something that could easily change. The risk of some idiot thumping or head butting me is quite scary but what do you do? Stop going out or to matches?

200+ comments and this thread is still going strong.

This vicious attack has clearly affected us all. The club have both the power and the opportunity to send a strong message and I believe they will do so.

I believe they will - quite rightly - follow the proper process and then ban the assailant for life. If they do anything else, they will be failing in their duty of care for customers.

Whilst I am sure this post is tongue in cheek, I hope that the teenager is not penalised for the actions of his arse of a Dad. Ban the Dad, get someone to escort the teenager to Ajax if he was going to go.
'Sensitive and seemingly well behaved teenager, who clearly doesn't like trouble, needs a responsible adult to take him to the Ajax game. Spare flight and ticket free for anyone who agrees to help and missed out on the allocation. Those interested should join the 2 mile queue at the AMEX'

I'm sure they will and I wouldn't be surprised if a season ticket is 'suspended' tomorrow even if only temporarily.

I wouldn't expect any statement for a while yet though :albion2:

The due process will be to find the culprit and seek his side of the story. If the person they identify denies any involvement and there are no witnesses then the process will fall down. If it is the person that was pictured I hope he’ll read it on here or be told by a NSC mate and have the decency to come forward.

So you can take a picture of anyone in a public place, without their knowledge or consent and post it on social media can you?
Yes. GDRP only applies to Businesses as I've already alluded too.
Clearly you’re a twat. If you or anybody else took a picture of me without permission, you would swiftly find your phone inserted up your anus.
I think you're the twat with that comment considering the content of the thread.
For protecting my privacy? Yeah, righty ho.
You have to create your own privacy in public, so if you don't like it, I suggest you walk around with a face mask.
Court certainly not on your side, so yes, off to prison you’d go. It’s not illegal to take anyone’s photo. It is illegal to assault someone for doing so. Not sure why you’re struggling with this common, never mind legal, sense?
Some people can't/won't take time to check their basic human rights. It amazes me how many people still don't understand that if you're in public, you are fair game. Like I said above, you have to make your own privacy in public.

I’m sure the club will do the right thing.

I’m a bit surprised at people’s surprise though. No one should be under the illusion that we (like every single other club) has a minority of absolute bell end followers, hiding under the pretence of being ‘supporters’ or ‘fans’. They’re nothing of the kind, and with any luck, the correct action by the club to bring to justice the perpetrators of the awful events noted on this thread might mean other future events get called out and dealt with similarly in the future.

He'll have nothing to gain by coming forward and I doubt he understands the word decency judging by his actions. Will probably keep his head down hope it blows over.

I've had my teeth knocked out twice in unprovoked attacks. One outside the Amex that ended up in crown court. People can be unpredictable arseholes when drunk / drugged up. Partly why I don't go out / away much now. I feel the world is getting more violent but I know it's really always been there and phone cameras / social media hasn't helped.

I’m pretty sure he never came back to the same seat. I’ve got a few photos of that area as it was just behind me and he’s not in any of them but his son is very clearly, celebrating wildly at the final whistle. I think someone else in this thread referenced him coming back in and standing further back.

Just slip the ****'s photo to the Daily Mail. He'll be outed, vilified and unemployed by Monday morning

The OP is a witness to the assault and has sent photographic evidence to the police and the club. From reading the comments, it seems there were several other witnesses.
