He has two + one years left at the end of this season. He doesn't need a new contract but I'm sure under the terms of the existing one he can be given a pay rise

Irrespective of any boos,and there might be a few that do, he'll soon be cheered and his song sang with gusto when he does his normal in a game.

This is a quiet, shy kid from a poor upbringing who is still only 21 and doesn't have much English. Of course he's going to give social media control to his agent and of course his agent is going to get the old dollar signs in the eyes when tapped up by Arsenal.
Moises is a good kid and an unbelievable footballer. We need to get behind him and show him how great it is to stay here.

He may also have a sore ankle after that stamp by Robertson so it would be a good chance to rest it for a few days.
But what's in it for the club? Just giving him money for nothing. Might as well save that for if he stays past the summer, or give to others.

Seems a bot of forgetfulness going on here. Arsenal only did the same as Chelsea did with Cucurella - keep coming back with a higher bid. The only real difference is that Chelsea kept going until they got to a point where TB said 'OK then' - and Arsenal didn't.

That would be my idea too (though I'd probably go to £50K a week rather than £60) - but sadly I suspect the club has already done that. Probably several times, and probably still on the table for signing.
Don't think that's true though is it? Man City kept coming back with higher bids, and getting rejected, then weren't happy to go above 40m. Chelsea then stormed in and agreed a deal within a few days. That's how it seemed from the outside anyway, obviously none of us know what was really going on.
We don't know the full details. In the summer, did Brighton just turn down the bids, whilst accepting there may be a higher bid?
And in this window did Brighton tell clubs 'no, and don't come back with further offers as he's not for sale for any amount'?
We don't know, but it is clearly different when you're in the middle of a season with games to prepare for.

It's perfectly true. Citeh did indeed make a few bids, and then pulled out as they realised their valuation didn't match what TB wanted. Fair dos, like Arsenal wth Caicedo. Chelsea came in and kept upping their bids until the little bell in Tony's head went 'ting'. Arsenal could have tried the same, but ultimately didn't.
A player who is earning a very good wage and maybe in a team in Europe. His head my not be turned so easily.
There's nothing wrong in rewarding your best players. Also it further justifies a large value.

And we could equally encourage him to stay with the offer of higher wages in a new contract, but with something in it for us. Have there been examples of us giving a player a payrise for nothing in return before?
