I’m sure back in the day the away enclose at Spotlands ran down one side of the pitch.

I do think that many fans won’t be completely aware of the rules around Covid vaccination proof tomorrow.

I have spoken to so many people who have just said “yeah I’ve got my vaccination card, so it’s fine”. I worry that many fans will think this and turn up tomorrow without the NHS app/letter.

Will they be checking every single supporter or will it be random spot checks ?

If someone doesn’t have the necessary proof, will they not be allowed in? Or, as others have mentioned, is this the club trialling this before October to allow everyone to get used to it and will allow them in on this occasion ?

As well as stress-testing the requirements ahead of the government proposal to make this mandatory in October, the club have been very clear that the proof of vaccination is to protect their stadium staff and contracted staff.

Of course, they may show leniency towards those who’ve failed to follow what has been asked, but given the club have quite reasonably adopted a’duty of care’ stance’, if it was me I wouldn’t want to risk it.

I wasn’t implying people may “risk it” but if people aren’t completely aware of the rules and turn up with their Covid vaccine card stating their name and it matches their ID, I would hope a common sense approach is adopted. Let them into the game, explain the rules to them and flag their name for next time so if they turn up to the next game without the right docs, then don’t allow them in .

Yes. I agree - a bit of pragmatism as everybody adjusts to a new system would be welcome. Reading my post back, I probably didn’t chose my phrase carefully enough; when I said “risk it” I wasn’t suggesting people will be trying to blag it or wilfully disregard what’s been asked for in terms of proof. I suppose I was just saying if I was going to invest the time, effort and money to go to the game (I’m not), I’d make sure I’d read the club website etc to be 100% certain I had what is needed. I wouldn’t risk not doing my research because I reckon that could lead to a fairly high likelihood of being refused entry.

It’s a ball ache but the one way of being certain to get in is simply to have everything the club has asked for in the form they have requested it. It will be interesting to hear how it goes tomorrow with 25k + in attendance, that’s for sure.

Odd times just to watch a football game, eh?

I also wonder how many are oblivious to the change in season tickets. I assume the club can tell if tickets haven't been downloaded onto phones.

I’m sure everything will work out fine, this time tomorrow the usual suspects will be on here, whining about the queue for a piss, like warm pies, pies that are to hot, strikers that couldn’t hit a cows arse with a banjo and OAPs will be dripping like a ****ed fridge about stickers falling off their replica shirt.

Only ones I can remember (I think) would be Leyton Orient and Bournemouth.

Good shout with Orient, I believe over the years the away fans have been put in every side of the ground.
I went there with my father when I was a kid and one season we were behind the goal and another in a terrace opposite the main stand, I’m sure we were at the end of this terrace near the corner flag…..long time ago.
I went in approximately 1997 and we were definitely in the main stand towards the corner.

I’ve only been to Bournemouth twice and both times behind the goal in an open terrace.

Not wading through 11 pages to see if it has been mentioned already but reading the guidelines, it looks like they will be showing live games on the big screen if there are any in the build up to encourage people into their seats. So I guess City v Arsenal next week.

The Amex has far too many rules in place. Maybe it’s the high incidence of Covid in the area at the moment? But your comparison is stark. At some point we are going to have to accept we need to get on with normal life.

Indeed, and as the cold weather draws closer cases will naturally increase just as every seasonal virus does. But there will be people bemoaning the fact that crowds have been allowed back at football matches etc. For the life of me I can't see the point of wearing a mask on the concourses, when most people there won't be because they are eating or drinking. Really?

I thought this had been done to death on numerous other threads, but -

You wear a mask to (primarily) protect others, not yourself. If they are not wearing a mask, even more reason for you to wear yours (for their sake).

You forgot to include the worst concourse (well, probably equally worst with Anfield)

You can add Watford and Palace to that list. So narrow hardly more than ten people can pass each other at once. I remember going to a FA Cup game at Watford once. Barnes scored for us and Bridcutt had a stormer and we won 1-0. I tried to go out at half time and felt distinctly uncomfortable with the near crush. It's because the stand is built into a hill, with only a small space for a concourse. The fans in the home part of the stand can use the Rous Stand to the right for refreshments and toilets so it won't be so bad for them.

I don't see the issue of wearing a mask, even though I wear glasses so it's a pain sometimes, if it means one person doesn't have their life ruined then it's fine with me. But then I've never been a too cool for school type.
