If you don’t like people having strong opinions football forums probably aren’t for you.

I love people with opinions. What get's right on my moobs is people who have ridiculously high expectations of the club they purport to support and behave with petulence when the club don't splash the cash in the way they demand. I also get prety irked by people who use a self serving interpretation of the facts (TB isn't "sensible" with his money - he's spent 100's of millions of pounds on a football club) and act like a spoilt snide. Other than that, I'm all peace and love.

If you don't like people calling you out when you throw your toys out of your pram entirely without reason, then maybe a football forum isn't for you.

Of JWP was to leave Soton, they'd be right fecked. Amazing how the club has gone from one off the best at developing talent and selling club to, well a relegation bait club with little future coming through.

Oh please let that happen! If that little rat Ward-Prowse deserted them too they really would be screwed and I would be one very happy man!

Agree. The Saints forums should be interesting this evening. Unless they pull out a showstopper signing or two and retain JWP, they're balls deep in relegation trouble
Just need to find two more teams that we can finish above then, and we're sorted! And no need for Uncle Tony to shell out another £20, £30 or £40M for a striker who'll turn out to be no more prolific than Maupay .................

I agree which is why I said we may well sign someone. What annoys me is that we have a run of games starting next week where we could get off to a flyer and have positive season. We are going into it with the same striking options we had last year except welbeck, the best of them is injured.

Our club will never do multi million pound transfers in order for them to play Burnley on Saturday. You know?

Tony is clearly a value investor and poker player. Everything is on the side of value and long term.

I happen to think we are going to sign a few more. It may go to the wire as these things often do. But there does seem to be interest in strikers, with Nunez and Edouard (we’ve had a bid rejected for the former according to foreign press) and of course Gonzalez who rejected us. So we’re clearly in the market for a striker. We may end up with one of these guys or someone a bit more left field. Let’s see what happens come end of the window.

Perfect transfer for us, Villa buy a great striker that injury prone and thus take on that risk and weakens our competition!
Injury prone 4 seasons ago maybe.

He's played over 90 premier League games over the last 3 seasons.

Wellbeck has played 50 in that period.

Your guess is as good as mine mate!

And here we go a nice little warm up thread before the season has started….I think honestly is the beat policy here we all know our forwards aren’t good enough, at this moment in time we are weaker than last season and don’t really appear to be doing much about it I can understand the frustration.

Also I can’t for the life of me understand why Benfica would sell their record signing a year on unless he is proper shite and they don’t rate him

Wellbeck wasn't from a relegation rival.

Villa have weakened a direct rival for us to the tune of 30m, I'd say that great news.

If you have strong opinions which are quite frankly bollocks and people take you to task for them… then maybe football forums aren’t for you.

It’s the opinion that an increasing number of our supporters have as you see it said across multiple threads. Grow up.

Sir Alan Sugar reckons most of them are, maybe we set our moral standards too high?

Even Doris Stokes could have predicted Ings was heading out of there.

Anyone know if Saints still get support from Liebherr’s estate? I seem to remember the family said they would continue his legacy.

‘Purport to support’ - so because someone has a different opinion to you they simply aren’t as much of a real supporter as you. That smug superiority in relation to supporting a football team is nothing but childish.

Also don’t make assumptions, I’ve been there on the away terraces in some our darkest days with literally a handful of fellow fans. The last thing I have is ridiculously high expectations but I know what I see. Last season we were crying out for a decent forward, 9 days before the season starts we are actually in a worst position as our best forward is currently injured. Stick your head in the sand all you want but I call that a poor situation as it stands.

I read earlier that Buendia’s and Bailey’s wages equal what Grealish was earning, obviously it’s all costing them extra coin but I think they’re doing quite well in the market.

Maybe. Time will tell on how successful. I seem to remember Fulham busting a gut in the transfer market a couple of seasons ago and the team flopped badly. I’m not saying the same thing will happen to Villa but ambition and success don’t always go hand in hand.

Those clickbait hunters all predicted Tammy Abraham would be on his way to Villa.

How long before they start linking him to us?

Sounds like Abraham is likely to head to Atalanta according to the Beeb today. And Southampton likely to replace Ings with Adam Armstrong. Decent replacement and much younger.

Saints supporting mate of mine says they are in big trouble. Board trying to cash in on players to lower the wage bill and very little if any transfer fund available. Finished last season poorly and then to take Ings' goals away! They could well be one of the three this season

Adam Armstrong isn’t a PL player. Another Dwight Gale IMO. Saints replacing Ings with him is absolutely ideal for us.
