I've seen the video and although I don't condone their behaviour the words"thugs" "headlock""accosted"and others being used by the media paint a different picture in my opinion.
The lads seem friendly enough in the video, possibly almost fans of whitty.
But they are most definitely twats and Chris whitty should not be manhandled in that fashion.
A very scary experience for whitty I imagine and made worse by the lack of social distancing.

What is really discraceful was the crowd out side whittys house calling him a murderer which just beggars belief and probably added to his fear during the encounter with these two Herbert's.
I think he and van Tam definitely need some sort of protection now as people are being brainwashed by dark forces on these social media sites and if we are not careful we will end up with the fanatical hysteria seen in America and some nutter doing something stupid.

Worthing
The BBC didnt put the video up on their website and I had to go look for it. TBH I'm not sure it was anywhere near as bad as the BBC would have you believe.

He wasn't being assaulted or threatened in any way, shape or form. If I had been in Witty's position I would have said "take your pics fellas then I'm off". If it had been a sporting star or a well known musician etc etc strolling through the park on their own then people would have been wanting a selfie; it happens all the time.

I'm not saying it's right (I wouldn't ever approach say, a BHAFC player in a supermarket because it would be rude as they weren't "at work" but I'm sure I'm in the minority) but if you are a public figure then this kind of thing will happen and Witty clearly didn't handle it as well as he could have.

Seriously, “didn’t handle it as well as he could have”……..

Feck me!

He shouldn’t have to - anyone who can’t see this is part of the problem as far as I’m concerned.

Perhaps I’m the one out of touch….

Edit - oh and being drunk is not an excuse.

You are a bit out of touch with what is and is not decent behaviour

What on earth possesses people to have a go at the Chief Medical Officer who has been outstanding during this pandemic.

Total to$$ers

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-57648608

An excessive amount of alcohol, anti-everything views formed from reading OUTRAGED people on social media and general twattishness and the inability to give a shit about anyone but themselves.

There are three – bound to be loads more reasons...

Very much this, when caught only a custodial sentence will suffice. Absolute ****ing vermin.

Agreed and if only we could deport them. A couple of complete scumbags, who are little short of a disgrace to this country.

To those who say it wasn’t that frightening, please consider his father, Kenneth Whitty was a British diplomat who was hauled from his car, onto the street, in Athens, and then shot dead. It happened in 1984.

For that reason alone, he must have been terrified. He had no idea who these ‘lads’ were or what their intentions were. It is assault and the police nearby, should have stepped in.

Utter scum. Chuck them in jail. Public servants (anything from government advisors to police, via nurses, doctors, teachers etc.), whose public persona is nothing more than the public face of their job of work, are not fair game for anything, and this is worse than random behaviour of a stranger because it is targeted in relation to the man's job of work (advising HMG on Covid). I'd say the same if someone recognised the PC who stands on duty outside number 10 (protecting Boris) on the street and did similar. The fact that I find the views of these scum about Covid to be detestable has, on this occasion, nothing to do with me wanting to see them punished.

A post I completely agree with. That doesn't happen often.

You clearly haven't seen the video.

These morons are just behaving idiotically around the bloke they recognise from the covid news. I doubt they even have the intelligence to have views on covid - nothing about the video seems to be political, just morons being morons.

It seems pretty moronic to be manhandling a stranger during a pandemic, don’t you think ? I think we can deduce their views on Covid from their actions. I’ve seen the video btw.
