The Tories have lost a by election in Chesham & Amersham. They had a majority of 16000 at the election,
The Lib Dem’s have won (the only pro Europe party) with a majority of 8000. That’s a swing of 25%.

very interesting. I suppose you can't gaslight everyone, might work on yokels in Hartlepool and the fairy bakers but at last we see some folk have had enough !

It’s been Tory since the boundary changes in 1974. Tory centrists have had enough of this UKIP Tory party.
It was a good turnout for a by-election, so that isn’t a factor.

I am more a tory voter than a voter for any other party.

But I despise the far right version we have now. The Pied Piper, the Libertarian Assassin at the treasury, Poison Patel, Dim Dom etc.

Food exports to Europe plunge after Brexit

The UK exported more food and drink to outside the EU than into it in the first few months after Brexit as exports to the bloc nosedived. Sales to non-EU countries made up 55% of all UK food and drink exports in the first three months of 2021 compared to less than 40% a year earlier, according to data from the Food and Drink Federation.

However, this is not thanks to any major boom in exports to non-EU countries, which only rose by 0.3%, the group said. It means that overall exports of food and drink sunk to £3.7 billion from £5.1 billion a year earlier.

Thank God we are totally incapable of implementing our agreed import controls, could you imagine what that would do to the supply of goods in Britain. Having British companies undercut by their EU counterparts, missing out on tax revenue and leaving the borders open to smugglers seems like a cheap price to pay compared to the alternative

Still, these are way down the priority list compared to finding an 'alternative' to the NI protocol in the next 2 weeks. And still no suggestions from our 246 Brexit voters on this thread

Brexit red tape stops Royal British Legion selling poppies in the EU

The Royal British Legion has been forced to abandon poppy sales in the European Union because of the extra costs and bureaucracy it faces following Brexit. Its decision to stop selling to customers in the EU coincides with exporters reporting large falls in sales to the bloc because of new taxes and paperwork. It comes as many businesses struggle to adapt to post-Brexit red tape, with food and drink exports also being badly hit.

The charity told supporters that “regrettably we will need to cease sales to customers in countries in the EU until such times that legislation is reviewed”. “Having carefully considered the cost of such operations, the Poppy Shop concluded this would erode profit to such an extent that it would not be financially viable; ultimately impacting on the level of funds raised for our beneficiaries,” it told supporters. Commander Patrick Lister-Todd, a member of the Government’s Veterans Advisory and Pensions Committee, told i: “The Government really needs to sort these things out. Unfortunately, it comes back to the old adage of having your cake and eating it".

Interesting response to the news that one of Britain's most respected charities is suffering badly from Brexit.

I always thought that [MENTION=35289]Baker lite[/MENTION] defined himself as one of Britain's 'Most Patriotic' but I've obviously mixed him up with someone else
