Yep, and I'm not convinced Bloom is quite as confident in Potter as Barber is. That story in the Mail about him wanting a end of season inquest and improvement next season came from their chief sport writer, not just any old hack, and to be honest i fully believe it. There's a lot to be encouraged about but there's no excuse for another relegation battle next year. To become an established top 10 club you can't be spending your life worrying about the side in 18th.

I agree. Would be a big step in his career too. He'd likely get some good financial backing, it's a good set of players, great exposure for him, etc. etc.

Project or no project, he didn't grow up supporting Brighton. He doesn't have some sort of special emotional attachment or loyalty. It's a job - a good one, and a nice fit for everyone, but still a job.
I don't think it's that deep.

That said, I really hope he stays with us. And I'm not sure these big clubs are going to take the gamble on him this year. There are so many "safer" options.

Ultimately he does have a safe job here though.

Would he have that time if he had a bumpy season at Everton? Given their high manager churn I’m not so sure.

I think we’re under estimating ourselves and with our owner what a good fit we are for him.

You’re referring to the hack Mail article that Paul Barber laughed at when asked in a podcast? He said it was absolutely nonsense and how happy he and Tony were with GP.

Or how about going to the source. See Tony’s words in his end of season review. Just so I understand… are you suggesting these are all complete lies and he’s secretly unhappy with Potter in charge?

The first thing you will read is that he's been given permission to talk to another club. Then maybe after that, he may decide to go or to stay. Managers don't suddenly disappear overnight, and the mods on here are fairly quick to amend thread titles, so stop panicking.

And I don’t doubt there was an end of season review. But frankly I’d be shocked if there wasn’t. It’s surely standard for any successful businessman to take stock of the current status, things that can be improved, blockers, progress on our goals (on and off the pitch) and such.

I don’t believe any of that equates to Tony being dissatisfied with GP. Only he would know that. And if so, whilst he’d keep his cards close to his chest, I don’t think he’d write so positively about Graham much less speak about him in as positive a manner publicly.

Yep, perfectly normal (and good practice) for there to be a full review at the end of the season and an assessment of what went well, what didn't and discussion on what needs to change next season (including from Potter's perspective). Wouldn't expect anything less.

As for a new contract and pay hike, given no-one on here has the faintest clue what wedge he's on anyway we'll never know......[emoji16]

I don't think he's dissatisfied. Some players like Bissouma and White are worth an absolute fortune now compared to what they were and let's face it, most of what we've seen since Christmas gives a lot to be positive about.

But i don't doubt there's been some private disappointment on our lack of progress up the table and with points on the board which is almost certainly what will be a priority next season. A good goal difference (and, urgh, xG) will only go so far.

Let's hope the trend continues anyhow and we can find the personnel to put the ball in the net a bit more regularly. At that point do i think we'll see some serious interest from other clubs.
