@Icy - what changes do you think should happen this summer and next season, to progress us from a lowly 17th, a paltry 8 wins and a team that’s given away 25 points from winning positions?

If we don’t progress next season - and I mean results - then surely the fans are entitled to ask the question, what do we really want from the football team we support? We are just an entertaining Stoke. As a neutral, I would be bored by us.

Agree. I know some people don’t like to recognise “luck” here, but football is chaos, and I agree with you Hugo, more often than not this season the football gods have been against us.

We make one mistake? Punished with a goal.
They make a mistake? It ricochets in their favour.
Ball bounced free to one of them outside the box? Unsaveable worldie incoming.
Ball bounces to us outside the box? We’ll miss or hit the woodwork.

We concede pens that when are reversed don’t go our way.

Insane refereeing. I could go on.

I know, luck. But I don’t recall a season like this before with so many things go against us. Can’t wait for this season to end and to reset and go again.

But we've had luck too, penalty against Liverpool, really?

Yes, you just wonder what we could achieve with a fit Lallana playing just behind the front two.
I thought we played pretty well tonight given the absentees. Could have taken all three points from a top 6 side. We continue to play well against the better teams but struggle to beat the lesser sides. Seems to be a problem for Potter to solve in the summer with how we get hold of a quality striker.
Lets be honest Potter is as raw to the PL as some of our players, he’s 70% getting there we just can’t go through another season hoping another three teams will be shit. We need to dispatch the teams around us especially at home, maybe with a full Amex it will help who knows.

Shot SHY is not what we are. Converting shots is a different matter.

I agree. We have a lot of shots but we hesitate that fraction too long and many are blocked.

We also try and walk the ball in ala Man City when we should shoot earlier but hey ho that's the Albion !

We are so shot shy and I maintain that is something we can be coached to be better at!

Never question Potter’s coaching. You will be shot down in flames.

I want the bloke to succeed , but I’m so tired of the flimsyness of the teams he puts out. 25 bloody points and he hasn’t learned!

Surely we have to progress.

If we don't something must change.

Potter has us playing attractive football but I'm not convinced he can change our setup to react to opposition, where is plan B.

Too often we're out thought in second half.

Potter post match as reported by the BBC.

"In some ways. They have probably invested a lot over a few windows. They have always had a talented squad. We want to get more points, that is where we are at. Our performances have been good but it is about results.

"We are not far away but we are aware we have to improve. We will reflect, we will take a break and then analyse what we have to do to get better."

He knows it, we know it. I do think next season will be better but he does need to be backed with the right players. A real finisher / number nine and someone who can ensure that Dan Burn never ever plays wingback again. And work on the midfield's decision making, concentrating straight after scoring and perhaps sticking away some free kicks and penalties.

Poor game. Another draw. West Ham should have been out of sight at half time. Our defenders left so many of there players free outside box throughout the game. As soon as Alli went wide in 2nd half he looked our most dangerous player dont know why he didnt start there. I know we had injuries but next season cannot have so many games with players out of position.
Considering he was in his best position Alzate as an attacking midfielder wasted his chance. Few runs and just stayed put after passing. Very easy to praise the Percy pass but lost the ball a lot when closely marked

With hindsight I'd be wrong.

But no I wouldn't, I'd have brought Andone on for Trossard and left Ali J on the pitch.

Perhaps that's why GP is the manager not me.

However I stand by the fact that a lot of our substitutions over last couple of years have baffled me.

Doubt Andone is anywhere near match fit, and was probably only on the bench to be ‘involved’ because we’re down to bare bones.

Also a bit of a joke on the socials, when Bayern Munich missed a load of chances they were Bayern and hove Albion, many neutrals when we play it’s ‘ ffs can anyone just buy Brighton a striker ‘ :lolol:

Surely you can’t criticise his changes tonight? Lallana looked class and moved the ball quicker and Tau got the assist.

In those bald terms no, BUT Ali J looked very dangerous, Trossard was anonymous, so yes I don't agree with the substitutions.

Albeit glad with the result.

But it's not about tonight's game in isolation.

Yes Percy appears too lightweight which allows opponents too many opportunities to build attacks when they win the ball off of him.

I agree.

I never slate Potter. But a third season of exactly this, wouldn’t be progress in all but a fantasist’s book.

With a couple of quality first team signings, plus Solly and Lamptey backs, shirley we’ll end these 4 seasons of rarely winning.

Positive night from my perspective.

Playing a team going for CL, without our most important defender, and got the draw which was the fair result on the overall play imo.
I thought BDB had an excellent game and we so nearly had another home clean sheet - Biss’s clearance hitting AL or whoever and downhill from there.
A good first game in ages for SA and lots of half chances involving AJ. The Lion had a good cameo with a class finish from Welbz. LT would be the only one that I think was disappointing, although clearly JM at LWB is a stretch!
I hope we can stick with MC on Tuesday but suspect we’ll be pointless so that just leaves winning at The Emirates. Come on Albion!
