I couldn't get in that day. I was about 10 people back from turnstiles when they closed the NS. I ended up a lamppost/gardens in Goldstone Lane watching the game and I could only see the north end.

Certainly a big crowd, although the 10,000 outside was never reported. A bit like the famous Newcastle United away match where about 5,000 Albion traveled (the away end wasn't totally full although there were Albion in the seats so the figure is about right) That went up to 10,000 in subsequent years and reached 12,000 a while after that

Why would it be 50% full? I really can’t see season ticket sales falling much at all especially with the waiting list.

Money that would have been better spent on a striker going to waste. Relegation won’t sell many seats to suits who won’t care if we go down.

Certainly would. Brighton have historically been a lower league side with the ability to get big crowds if doing well and average crowds if doing badly. Going down wont halve the gate unlike at most clubs. If we are doing well, they will still sell out Saturday games and 25,000 for evening games. If doing badly, it will be between 20,000 to 25,000 most weeks, but if a London club or Pompey then will be a sellout.

This seems a strange thing to say...
1. People nearly always have to renew before they know what division the club will be in the following season.
So, unless we "do a Sheffield United" and look doomed early on, a first-season-relegated Albion would have the same high level of season ticket holders as a Premier League Albion.
And, unless something goes horribly wrong, even a second-season-relegated Albion is likely to have high renewals as people will want to be sure to have a ST for the hoped-for promotion back to the Premier League.
2. In the home areas of the ground, we were sold out, or very close to it throughout our Championship time at the Amex, even against shit teams when it was a bit cold.

Unless we dropped like a stone in the Championship, which i know is not an impossibility, we will attract big crowds. Fans attend when you start winning games and it will not be hard to increase the ammount of games we win at home compared to the last year.......1

They have clearly squeezed in the extra seats by reducing or removing the spacing between the seats. In our group the seat number on our accounts are increased by +2 (West stand Lower), the seat number listed in our accounts no longer matches the number printed on our season ticket cards. I'm expecting the season ticket cards will not be updated by we will be expected to 'hold' the ticket on a phone app.

I was sat in the Grandstand and I remember plenty of loud singing from outside the ground. We got there about 15 minutes before kickoff (only had to walk across Hove Park) and there were huge crowds outside.
