But this is all based on one simple assumption.

Our government has guaranteed volumes in our contracts with the various suppliers for ongoing supplies and the EU does not. I'd like that to be true, but the simple fact is nobody knows

And that will be the crux of all the posturing from all sides over the next few weeks. I guess we will find out more in the weeks ahead.

Well yes, I was just saying there is no posturing from the UK in the present tense, so the caviar metaphor is not at good one at present. If circumstances change we can return to the metaphor.

I don't need a lecture off you thank you , you have a proven track record of support for the EU a bit pot calling the kettle black I think and yeah I'll be backing the UK before the EU all day long , they're but a bunch of bully boys and this issue proves that in bucket loads
Regards
DF

And you are a racist, anti-semite, homophobic, holocaust denying, nazi (as documented in NSC moderating decisions) but I don't keep on about it

I saw a report this morning that AstraZeneca have reduced the volumes to the EU further, down to 25%. This isn't going to go away.

Do you have a link to the Pfizer shortfalls ? Thanks

I don’t think so. It is time for anyone making personal comments about other posters to be removed from the thread.
This.

The pit is for ongoing circular abusive arguments that go on for ever.

This is a current, important issue.

This is how I see it.

The media are trying to play it out far differently than what is actually happening.

We’ve placed our orders and are saying we are carrying on the programme on that basis. Any other comment from Boris or Gove would mean involving themselves in something which is strictly between the EU and AZ.

No need for pitchforks and burning torches to protect ‘our vaccines’ .... just the normal media crap

Quite. The issue is the contract between the EU and AZ. The UK government would be wrong to try and take sides.

We have British travellers being stopped at the EU borders and food confiscated because it dpes not meet EU standards.
Now we have the EU wanting the AZ vaccine to be diverted from Britain to the EU even though it is not licenced for use. Double standards by the EU , Boris should tell them that it is their level playing field we are playing on. Lol you could not make it up!

Is this because of Pfizer upgrading their operations in Belgium ? I'm sure I saw this was a temporary problem for all Pfizer customers including us.

I think it's a bit different to the ongoing EU/AstraZeneca issue.

I agree, but this rarely happens.

Are we able to request a poster purge of this thread ? It has certainly gone downhill over the past several pages and many of us would like to keep the civil discussion going.

Jesus - I open this thread and see the usual ridiculous ****ing point-scoring and squabbling.

Just stop.

Just ****ing stop.

I'm not going to take any action based on posts made prior to this one, but from here on in, this is what will happen:

- Every time I see the usual suspects engaged in their usual behaviour, I will issue an infraction.
- Multiple infractions automatically scale up to bans from the site (thinks points on your driving licence) - first short and temporary, but ultimately permanent.

I've got to the point where I really don't care how long you've been using NSC. A few people are repeatedly spoiling it for the many. Left or right, pro-EU, or anti-EU, pro-Brexit or anti-Brexit, pro-people with different coloured skin to you or anti. Whatever, I don't give a shit.

Please - just ****ing stop. Now.

If you value having access to NSC in any way, I suggest you think long and hard before submitting any posts as I'm not going to be forgiving.

It's about to be licensed.

The question is a contractual one. It's not a governmental one.

That should be resolved over the next few days once folk get to see what the actual agreement was. All else is noise and posturing.

The following quote is worrying as it is baseless but will cause the UK to get involved in the EU's inability to organise itself.

EU Justice Commissioner Didier Reynders has warned of a "vaccine war".

Speaking on Belgian radio, he said: "The EU commission has pushed to co-ordinate the vaccines contracts on behalf of the 27 precisely to avoid a vaccines war between EU countries, but maybe the UK wants to start a vaccine war?

"Solidarity is an important principle of the EU. With Brexit, it's clear that the UK doesn't want to show solidarity with anyone."

What I take from that is that the EU sees vaccine warfare with all non member states in order to preserve solidarity amongst the 27. I am sure he is playing to the gallery but it is so destructive and unnecessary.

You can make it up though, it seems.

Germany have bought millions of doses of vaccine. Half of them through the EU consortium. The other half by private arrangements.

Look, you won, we have left the EU. There is no need for aftertiming. For the last time, if we had been in the EU still we would still have had absolute authority to buy any amount of vaccine from wherever. MHRA rules, always did.

I haven't read so much fake news in a long time

Not at all. It's our Government's job to prioritise our citizens. It's the EU's job to prioritise it's citizens.

It'll be the Lawyers job to go through the various contracts signed by each supplier and see who has what rights by law to the various vaccines that haven't been produced yet. I don't think it's right, but it's what will happen

Indeed its the commercial world we live in, see what the contracts say...
