They could hope as much as they want, it’s never going to happen. He just isn’t good enough.

For the money spent, he has been a huge mistake. Pound for pound the worst signing we’ve ever made, and I include Locadia in that.

Needs to be packed off to a lower league ASAP for everyone’s sake.

That is quite clearly a load of ****ing bollocks.

Persian, we know you’re more an Ali J supporter than an Albion one. Fair enough too.

I was a huge supporter of AJs, no one has wanted him to succeed here more than me (you can go back through the thread and see me defending him on numerous occasions against his critics here). But he’s had a lot of chances now and in recent times when selected has been anonymous. Percy Tau and even young Khadra have looked electric in their recent cameos.

So for me, sadly, I think he’s had his chances now. There was a time when he wasn’t getting a look in the team at all, and that was wrong.. but he’s had chances this season. And aside from Preston in the cup, hasn’t really delivered.

Surely even if you rate him, you’d agree he hasn’t really performed when selected this season?

I disagree mate - he has not had his chances. If you break it down, he has had a good run in cup games which should have earned him more than 2-3 starts in the prem + a few 10-15 min appearances. I’m not sure how you could say he’s gotten a fair shot? What club spends 18-20 mil on a player and calls it giving him a shot by those standards?

Hes not been magnificent or a level above anyone else but he’s definitely not had the chances that pretty much everyone else in the attacking line up has had. Again the statistic above is the evidence of that you’re getting a factual, tangible statistic to show his effectiveness. Where’s the counter to show otherwise?

over 50 appearances in total and produced 4 goals. He scored 22 in 39 appearances in his last season in Holland. I guess it just shows the gulf in quality of the divisions.

I wanted him to do well so badly but he just isn't good enough and he has had 50 opportunities to show for it and only produced the magic 4 times. The goal against Chelsea was delightful.

How right you are, watched several vids connected to that one, is it me or does the way we play much quicker then? Maybe its the noise of the crowd but boy we played some crisp football at times.

Maybe that’s what the players are missing a good crowd giving them stick. :)

I don't know why there is so much hate/dislike/whatever for this player. This whole discussion started because someone posted that Jahanbakhsh has created more "clear-cut" chances than anyone in Premier League, per minute played. One every 62.3 minutes. This is "clear-cut" chances, not Gross and March taking corners and free kicks and counting them as "regular chances". Last year, he scored more than any Brighton player per minutes of play.

You can have 50 appearances, but if 40 of them is you being subbed in the 90+3 minute when there is 4 minutes of extra time, there isn't much you can do, is there. I always look at "per 90 minutes of play" stats vs per appearance and looking at it that way, he has had amazing stats.

I still think that he has not had a good run in the team. A good run is 5 starts in a row for me. That also applies to a lot of our other players too. One problem I have with Potter is all the tinkering he does week in, week out... It takes its toll on player's confidence. After two months, you get 15 minutes to play and you have to "Prove yourself"...

What exactly is ‘quite clearly a load of ****ing bollocks’?

Looks spot on to me.

The fact AJ's stats are better, even though he's not a striker, and he's still here contributing,

Locadia originally got a good solid run, was utter gash then got binned off. AJ has still not had that, yet has scored a goal more and offered assists.

It's all opinions, with a few facts thrown in.

His stats are better? Locadia scored more goals than AJ has and JL played less minutes than AJ has. Including a goal that got us to a cup semi final.

They both had a run in the side at different points in 2018/2019 and neither delivered.

Both have had their chances and neither have done anything to prove they’re good enough for the Premier League or justify their ludicrous transfer fees. And that is also clearly the opinion of two good managers with totally different philosophies, neither of who want to play them despite seeing them everyday.

Don’t get me wrong, Locadia was toilet but slightly less so than AJ in my opinion and he did also cost less.

Jahanbakhsh has done nothing to justify the support he gets on here from some. He has had many opportunities and never looks up to the standard. And what exactly is he contributing now other than a handsome face to an otherwise fairly plain looking squad?

Tries hard, lovely guy, nice hair and beard but just not up to it.

I suppose creating more clear-cut opportunities than any player in Premier League per minutes played means he is not up to it. Yeh, lets put him down because of his lovely beard!!! I think you made up your mind and are stuck in his first year here where he was told to practically play wingback and comparing him to Locadia who was our striker.
