One of my fave bands. Adore their mid-1980s' Goth stuff especially, and still listen to it on a regular basis.
Apparently, Robert Smith lives on Bognor seafront - very rock'n'roll. Has also been quietly and faithfully married throughout to his childhood sweetheart, which makes a refreshing change from the debauched lifestyle of some rags-to-riches rock stars and their succession of high-profile 'glamour model' girlfriends and cocaine-fuelled orgies reported in the tabloids.
Saw The Cure headline Saturday night at Glastonbury in 1986. After a scorching hot day, they came on stage as darkness fell, and a thunderstorm broke out. I cherish the memory of Smith singing the opening line to my favourite Cure Song, 'A Hundred Years', "It doesn't matter if we all die...", while thunder and lighting filled the sky.
It was as if God had decided to provide his own spectacular light-show to show his appreciation of a great band!

Their hitting arena level success coincided neatly with me being at an age when I liked arena gigs. So I got to see them 4 times in 3 years aged 16 -19

This reminds me, selling ice creams in Ontario 1993 AT Lollapalooza is probably the BEST job I've ever had. I just downed tools when my favourite bands were on one of the stages, as did most of my mates at the time.
As for The Cure, they were without doubt my favourite band as a 6th former (closely followed by The Smiths). Absolutely loving this thread as a consequence, but the thread's popularity really does show how old most of us are on NSC...

Not a huge fan, but they have produced some essential albums in anyone's collection.
Was lucky enough to see them at Crystal Palace bowl and some weird Radio 1 "indy" weekend gig where they headlined after a few songs from a handful of other bands.
I seem to recall both gigs had pretty decent support acts. anyone remember who else played at either of these gigs?

My daughter (17) is a bigger fan of the Cure than I am.

You've listed some of my favourite songs in that list (and I note you're including In Between Days in there). I haven't listened to The Cure much in recent decades, so feel a bit out of touch, but Primary would be in there too. But, just so I can adopt a usual smug aura, can I add that I was so besotted with them in my teens that I saw them ten times during the 80s.

First time I saw them live, they opened with that at about 9.30 Sunday night and then closed with it as an encore at around 10.50 Sunday night - because they'd already played every other song they knew in between*.

Because Iused to live in Crawley and worked with Simons future wife we used to see the Cure a lot. We were amazed when someone we knew released such an amazing album as Three Imaginary Boys. Still love all of the tracks on that, but possibly my favourite track is "Push". First time I heard it i thought they'd written a brilliant instrumental, and then over 2 minutes in, the vocals kicked in. The guitar work on Push is simply gorgeous.
Boris Williams at his best on that one. They should never have let him go.....
