Great performance by the Albion who showed a lot of heart and bottle out there with the incessant waves of attacks.

Lamptey's performance was outstanding. Hopefully an appeal against that 2nd yellow card.

And well done Michael Oliver for overturning his original decision.

I feel like breaking into song...

You can't appeal a yellow car, no matter how much of a cheat sockboy is.
The reason sockboy is the most fouled player in the premier league is not because he's particularly good. It just he holds on to the ball too long and people just don't like him

So what actually happened for the pen is Trezeguet pulled the ball back, March deflected the ball AND didn't even touch the Villa man, he throws himself to the floor because he felt contact - but that contact was with the ricocheted ball, not March's leg.

Now former ref Peter Walton on BT is saying VAR's job not to get decisions right (!!), just to adjudicate on clear and obvious errors which he thinks that wasn't.

Unbelievable. For over a year VAR has ignored clear and obvious, so what is he talking about??

This. He. Didn't. Even. Touch. Trezzergit. Fact.

What is Peter Walton on about ? Never heard anything so ridiculous.

I wish they would remove the reference to clear and obvious. It's either right or wrong, simple as that. If you can rule out goals because of toe being a millimetre offside then for penalties they should be checked. Walton wasn't a great ref and now he's not a great pundit.

FINALLY after 14 months of VAR we get the RIGHT decision - ref overturns his own decision - amazing game
From the replay March gets to the ball and the ball hits their guy and he collapses like a ton of shit. March didn't seem to touch their player at all imo. About time we had the rub of the green.

I know that onlt 5% of NSC will agree with this but sock boy is an excellent player. He looks the business playing for England. Bit harder with the duffers at Villa, but he really is decent. Maupay dives more when contacted - but less often in a game because he doesn't play the same position as sockboy and sees much less of the ball.

Florin Andone has tweeted and said it wasn't a penalty. And frankly when it comes to kicking players there's nobody who's opinion I'd seek out before his.

I'd love to see Andone up top with Wellbeck.

Nah I want to see him come on to replace Welbeck. Then after having a nice guy to deal with for 60 minutes the defenders have to face the hounds of hell.
