Here
A player who has gone backwards in his time with us probably due to a lack of game time

I wondered whether leaving him on was Potter’s subtle way of saying to the recruitment team ‘this is why you need to move him on and get me Sessegnon/AN Other’

Dreadful last night. I’ve been a fan in the past but if Potter’s seeing that day in, day out, he’ll be off or third in line behind Burn again.

He looked better in central midfield than wing back. However, we also appeared to switch to a back four mid-way through the first half and he was pushed up as a winger, and that is never going to be his position. Having said that, he´s not good enough despite having all the right attributes

I'm not one to post negative comments about our players, but he was woeful last night.

Ali J or Bernardo or both?

I do know the answer [emoji2], but thought AJ was distinctly ordinary along with everyone else.

The player that seems to escape criticism for a series of ordinary displays IMO is MacAllister.......

For an Argentinian international he hasn’t come close to influencing a game.

Bernado was pretty poor but I thought Burn was fairly poor at left back too, Lamptey and March's last performance show the levels to aspire to.

I think he (Mac) showed some good touches last night, he is getting there I think..... and will get there, in a better team performance than we saw last night. His adjustment from South America is continuing imho.... dont give up on him yet.

Lol. Good joke.

The NSC burning torches and pitchforks have been out for Mac Allister for quite a while now - although that may just be a very vocal and repetitive minority.

Agreed - he looks like the odd man out in the squad, misplaces too many passes in attacks, flatters to deceive. I would not be surprised if he is back in Argentina by the end of this window

Definitely. He tires rapidly so lasting memory is how he drifts out of games. As he adapts, builds up his engine, every hope he'll turn good. Bernardo on the other hand...

Given that he's only been with us for 8ish months and 4 of those were in lockdown, has played his entire career in a different league at a different standard, has has to adapt to being 100s of miles from home and is up against Trossard, Lallana and Gross for a first team place it's no surprise that it's taking him a while to get up to the levels expected. Remember, the absolute fever pitch excitement when he came back from Boca? It was somewhat unfair to expect him to come in and obliterate the league from a standing start.

I have full faith that in a few months we'll start to see more of what he can offer the first team.

I do think some comments are a little unfair. He did have a poor game but before Potter he was very good as a fullback. Like last night only time he gets a game is when he plays as a wing back which is not his position. I assume he again played Burn at fullback because no way he could play wingback and wanted to give them both a game. You could say same about Veltman because he never played wingback in Holland . We signed Burn as CB. Has he ever played in that position for us ?

Had such high hopes for Bernardo when he joined. I wonder if we're seeing a combination of (rapidly) raised standards across the squad coinciding with rustiness and lack of form to make him look like he has gone backwards so quickly. And maybe he does want out, so is even further off his game. Huge shame. Feels like one to let go if we can, with a heavy heart.
