I agree with Potter that we have a big squad and that there are more goals in some of our players than they have shown. But scoring four goals against a very poor Portsmouth side proves nothing. Unless we can improve our speed of thought and movement in the final third against Premier League defences, we're not going to create enough chances for Maupay to miss. Sorry, take.

I've recently started to come around to this eventuality of going with what we've got as well.

The comments in the Argus this morning regarding looking for a striker reference the 'unique finacial circumstances this summer make that a big challenge' which possibly suggest no large outlay this window.

Very much this. It would be NICE if we did but I wonder whether anyone we actually like the look who hasn't already been sold in this window is now too overpriced for us.

And given some of the underperformers we've bought in the past at the last minute as a sort of panic buy......

It would be good to be pleasantly surprised though 🙂

This. It is ridiculous to get carried away with a great performance against a league 1 outfit. The problem is still there. No matter what Potter says.

I think Potter is following the party line and not saying anything controversial.

How would it look if he said " I am not happy with this squad and will struggle to keep them in this division unless we sign 2 quality strikers and a good LWB?"

Everyone knows we need to strengthen and if you believe that the club is not looking very hard to find the players we need then you are being foolish.

I didn’t say that. We will see if the club are foolish...

Still hoping that we are after Moussa Dembélé. (I know slim chance).
I see rumours that west ham are ready to make a bid.

Exactly, what are people expecting Potter to say?

If we don’t sign a striker and Maupay breaks a leg we will be nailed on for relegation. Imagine the financial consequences of being relegated in the current climate. It makes the £30m needed for a striker seem insignificant.

Even if Maupay stays fit we'll be amongst the scrappers at the bottom.

How about something like. I am happy with my squad, but we are looking to strengthen, like all clubs

I can’t help but remember those tweets from a plane coming into land at Shoreham a few years ago. Think it was Stephen Dobbie.

So why say we have a strategy to become top 10. Get there with defence and midfield, then completely fail WRT strikers??

Well, you could put your money where your mouth is and cough up the £30m (+wages) for what you 'believe' we need, or you could leave it to someone who takes these gambles daily on a professional basis

I know I really shouldn't but sometimes, just sometimes :lolol:

Karlan grant not in the starting lineup or bench today. I’d take him and someone on loan

think he was linked to WBA but its second weekend he has been omitted so likely he is going to move just who and when rather than if

not sure he would offer us anything different enough for GP to be interested unless the price is very good in our favour
