I don’t think they will but I would love it if they went back to the old format. It was so much better before they tried to make it a comedy show. It was genuinely a highlight of my week when I was 10-15. The rounds were

Picture board
Sporting action about the person’s sport and questions that needed knowledge rather than how many towels were used by someone left handed
Mystery guest
Home or away
What happened next?
One minute round with 6 questions and three missing names
Picture board.

The occasional joke but it was a quality sports quiz.

I am probably just old now I am 41. Loved it as a kid though.

Similar age, same feelings. It all went wrong when they stopped doing "What happened next".

Never been the same since Gazza took 20 minutes to decide whether to go "Home" or "Away"

i'd like to see them bring back They think it's all over. Jonathon Ross, Rory McGrath, Nick Hancock. It was a right giggle

I agree. It's the show "A League Of Their Own" wishes it was.

Jermaine Jenas is the early front runner for Barkers gig. One of the captains will be female, Quek was a good shout earlier in the thread. Think the other captain may well be BAME and much younger, Sol Campbell would be a strong candidate.

Simple really innit - it's all relevance. Sue Barker won a grandslam in 1976.

Alex Scott is much more relevant to the modern day TV audience

Absolutely , haven't tuned in to QOS since about 1979 but with Alex as host will be sure to again

You've got to laugh at these TV executives. The shortlist: If it's sport it's Clare Balding or Alex Scott. If it's non-sport it's Carol Vorderman or Claudia Winkelman.

Job done, we can all go home.

She's not bad presenting the One Show. Absolutely terrible pundit though

Yes, but you can't say that because it's sexist. Graeme Souness may be something of a dinosaur and doesn't always do his research, but he still knows more about top level men's football than Alex Scott does because played it and managed in it, so his opinion is worth listening to. Emma Hayes, the Chelsea women's team manager, is a far better pundit than Alex Scott, but she's much less, er, camera-friendly, so doesn't get the gigs. And I probably shouldn't be saying that either. But we all know that that's how the producers think.

I on the other hand will avoid the show like the plague, I can't stand the woman's voice, but then I'm not in the BBCs target audicience for this show.
