Could he mean that we want Ben to sign a new 1 year extension deal with us that keeps him here all next season i.e. not be sold in the January window, so he ends next season with 2 years still to run on his contract and a years Premier League experience so his value is higher?

You're being too charitable, it means:-

Phil Hay is a knobber who doesn't know what he's talking about, just making a living from showing those at Bellend Road his knickers.

It's almost as if he was already good? I've no doubt Bielsa is a high quality coach but he himself knows you need the tools to do the job you want doing. Hence Pontus Jansson being moved on. BW is a Bielsa type of player, the same way Adam Webster is a Potter type and Shane Duffy isn't. This is why they want White quite so badly, Bielsa himself knows he can't polish a turd and a ready made PL quality centre back who is comfortable enough to move into MF and can play the Bielsa way would not be cheap.

Pontus Jansson was moved on as he was the only player who tried to defy Bielsa instructions to give Villa equaliser. he rebelled and tried to block Adomah, booted out

I respectfully disagree. They deserve credit in identifying BW as a player that would be a useful addition on loan. The idea that they picked up a nobody and Bielsa turned him into a real player is simply false.

Do they deserve credit for identifying Ben White as a useful addition on loan? Or is it more likely that Brighton did all the forensic due diligence on the best club for Ben to spend a season in the Championship and offered him to Leeds as beneficial for his development? I know who I would back to have the more professional backroom team in this regard.

Kalvin Phillips just posted this on instagram, not sure when it was taken?

Pretty sure that was when a few of them took a short trip immediately after the promotion win/last game (there were pics of Ben on a private jet with them). He then, of course, went on a proper holiday with his G/F - and Aaron Connolly (which is odd, given he doesn't know any of the Brighton players apparently).

Bear in mind that we were discussing Ben to Leeds with Orta (Leeds) the previous season, Bielsa didn't want him. The genius.

But but but Bielsa had scouted Ben while he was at Newport according to The Delusional (new 38 part drama by Sky and HBO starting this September).

I know. It's almost like he didn't want to take the risk on a player jumping two divisions. But, after seeing him do well at Peterborough, he was suddenly keen on him. Almost like our development of him. Loans going up a division each year and now ready to feature for us in the Premier League.

But that can't be true. Leeds fans say we had no idea how good he was and that he was nothing before he went to Leeds and why would they talk rubbish

The Albion had no idea to such an extent they refused a loan to buy clause.
While Leeds, before Elsa had even spent the day with him, still begrudgingly accepted the deal.

This thread is excellent.

In other news #FreeBielsa

By Leeds logic he wants to leave because he hasn’t signed a new contract.
Actually does he even have one currently in place?

Classic. Proves my point perfectly. The first time they turned him down. Then we offered him again.

No doubt because WE knew he'd fit into Bielsa's system before Bielsa knew himself.
