As much as I’d love that from a football perspective - I think he’d want too much money. Every time I hear his name in the press it seems to be about money and not being happy with his wages. After our previous experience with him, I’m not totally sure his motivations would fit with what we could offer him.

Fair point, if I’m honest I was just looking at a young forward with 15 PL goals last season and thinking I wouldn’t mind a bit of that, I didn’t really consider any of the other bits that you’ve rightly brought up.

'Maybe' - of course. But it would make absolutely no sense for the club nor Potter to want to offload Dunk - the club captain, and one of the best players this club has seen - in his prime to 'refresh' things. Refresh what?

They did OK eventually. Best noted for blocks rather than their now improved positional defending.
Refresh what? The squad, of course. Ferguson did it all the time, so did Paisley. Ruthless but got it right time and time again.
....and it's not "offload" - it's weighing up the pros and cons and deciding whether the price is right.

Yes, Dunk'n'Duffy got it right. Does that preclude anybody else from doing the same?

Good point . . .hypothetically we could flog the pair and have 30-60m to play with . . . On top of a good squad of defenders. Enough to buy a CB and maybe even a forward Minded player that suits GP's ideas, depending on Whatever mushroom infused yaks piss he's been drinking this week, that could be keeping AJ or signing a squirrel from FC redwood in Canada!

Or better, how about a swap deal for Tammy or Giroud?

Tammy please, that would be superb.
Tammy? No - lightweight. Giroud in part exchange - now you'd be talking.

All very talented cbs, albeit not extensively tested at top level.
I’d be happier about Lewis leaving if tomori signed for a season.
Lots of ifs
Last thing we need is yet another CB. Anyway, think we've got better already.

He’s not good enough for Chelsea and CL football.

Doesn’t have the pace or the technical abilities of a high class CB , it’s why Southgate looked at him and said nah

Love the guy , but this wont end well for him if he makes this switch

Indeed, as much as I’ve always worshipped at the altar of safe, middle of the road man Beach Slut since the late 90s on here, that is an outrageous post from him.

Cheap jibe, nothing outrageous at all.

We have a wage cap, he can earn more so time to cash in and move on, we have other players who may increase our wealth, the Premier League is all about money.

Nothing will change until we are in a position to up the wage cap, might not be far off but time will tell.

I would add given we have effectively 7 central defenders we could raise £100m if we sold all of them but we won't, the club have stated numerous times if players are offered better contracts our wage structure means they will go. It hurts but this is how the Premier League works.

The huge investment in our training / academy added with Potter has produced two new first team starters, Alzate and Conolly at least a year ahead of predicted timescales which is incredibly positive, trust me the future is fighteningly brilliant.

It hurts so much I was devastated when Bobby left, however, when the prodigal son scored at Leeds I virtually cried, it was amazing

Good luck to him if he goes but last ditch blocks aren’t the way they play at the top of the PL or CL. However, he might have other qualities that he hasn’t had the opportunity to display, eg when playing for a team that is usually superior to the opposition and only having to worry about playing against one forward

Where is Lewis in all of the club promos for the shirt and the store?

https://shop.brightonandhovealbion.com/

Answer: he’s not there.

For what possible reason would the club leave its captain out? They even included Lallana....

Agee with and fully onboard with all apart from:

- Dunk out. Don’t agree, and don’t see it anyway (rightly) given GPs comments on Dunk yesterday when winning player of the season.

Whilst many from around these parts will not agree with Chelsea and Dunk’s desire to see him playing Champions League football in Royal Blue next season, do you see it now?

Which forward do you think the club would favour out of Giroud or Abraham?

Giroud. Equivalent to Lallana but up front, experience, character, influence on the youngsters. Same as Lallana will benefit the midfield, Giroud would benefit the strikers.

Like Murray - but better (with all due respect to Murray - younger too).

This rumour has got me looking a tabloids for the first time in a while. I can see no trace of Dunk to Chelsea. However, I do see that Palace seem prepared to let Zaha go for £30m, but there don't seem to be any takers. That would be very demoralising for the player and club as I'm sure it would affect their budget for new players quite considerably. ( fee and wages wise). Oh well, always a silver lining.

Southampton became masters at it a few years ago, selling their best players and still remained competitive

Bloom should stick in the bid, just to make some mischief, the palace forum would meltdown

Hard disagree on that. Abraham has huge potential and could have massive resale value, Giroud’s days of big money transfers are gone, I also couldn’t see the Albion investing in another veteran target man. I could very well be wrong, but I’m not sure that Potter shares the fans obsession in having a target man, surely Murray would have got more minutes if that was the case?
