Brooks could - could - be realistic. He's the one I think we could be making a serious play for being the scenes. He's probably the only one I'd really be excited by.

Cantwell wants big name club I'm sure, which could include Leeds or Villa as much as Spurs or Arse. I sense its in his DNA.

Has Ake seriously just gone for £41m? From that dreadful Bournemouth defence? Wowsers.

Sarr and several of the Watford boys will be off to the continent. Sarr is very good but has he really settled in the premier league?

What about Deleufeu? Watford really missed him, if he'd stayed fit they would probably have stayed up. I expect he'll go to Spain but would be swayed if a Prem team really targeted him.

Wonder what Foster's ambitions are now. If expect he would go to one of the promoted teams, but if anything was to befall Maty Ryan we'll surely be on the phone.

Josh King would be a great Murray replacement, but a lot of clubs tripping over each other to get him I'm sure. Man U are very strongly linked.

Solanke? Are you having a laugh? Totally useless.

Read what I posted again.

I said I think the club would be in for Solanke over going for Wilson and stated why I think that, not what I would do personally.

I'm definitely not suggesting that Solanke is a better player than Wilson and if you want a player to come in and do the business straight away then of course you would choose Wilson, but I've listed why I don't think the club will move for him.

I don't think Solanke is the answer, but we've been in for him before (just prior to Ashworth's arrival), Ashworth knows him through the England age groups and he just scored 3 goals in 7/8 games with a bit of confidence. So even if I had suggested we try and sign him I wouldn't exactly be having a laugh would I?

People are far too quick to write off players that don't do well for other teams, particularly young players that come through the ranks at big clubs as if they all entitled and don't deserve to make it. Take Calvert-Lewin a Sheffield Utd youngster as a comparison (he's a little older than Solanke). Up until this season Lewin had only scored 10 goals in 80 games in the Prem, with a higher ratio of starts than Solanke and while playing at a club challenging higher up the table. Not being an ex Liverpool, Chelsea, Utd boy I highly doubt anyone would have been so resistant had we tried to sign him at the start of this season (just gone), as to how resistant people would be to Solanke joining now? Also, low and behold, young striker starts more games (30 our of 36 available) and Lewin scores 10 plus goals and is talked about for England.

Personally, despite my rant, I hope there is better striker out there from a non-relegated team (probably abroad).

Brooks is the obvious one to bring in who is potentially realistic, although I wouldn't be surprised to see him go back to Sheffield United if they can afford him.

Lewis Cook is a very good player and would be an ideal replacement for Stephens or Propper, if we decide to sell one or the other. Adam Masina of Watford would be a better option at left back and left wing back than Dan Burn is, going forward and especially if Bernardo doesn't have much of a future.

I don't think that's a rant, rather a measured post. Of course in any fans' forum, if a player loses form he's the worst in the world and vice versa.

Solanke could well be a target and a future player who does well

Honestly I think a signing from a relegated team is quite uncreative and probably not even good value. I’d sooner look elsewhere.

Hernandez from Norwich cheers. Ability to show defenders a clean pair of (Cuban) heels!!

I haven't seen Hernandez mentioned on many fans wish lists and until the restart I'd never even noticed him.

But in the few Norwich games I've watched recently he has been an absolute beast. He seems powerful, fast and direct.
If at any time we started getting linked with him I'd be quite excited.

I've always like Doucoure. He even pops up with a few goals each season.

Doucoure get’s my vote too - he would add some much needed strength and better quality to our midfield. I’d also like to see Josh King to strengthen our strike force.
