Just booked my mates wedding in Malta middle of September after it being cancelled last month.
Bought annual insurance in November when I went to Amsterdam so assume I'll still be covered

Good news at last!

Imho you will be covered, but not for any covid-related claim.

I’ve had a look at the changes, predictably any covid-related (or fear of) event is now excluded. Makes sense.

I realise that’s just one insurer, but this makes sense.

Which will also include cancellations should the Foreign Office close down travel due to a second spike. I'm not saying it will happen but pays to be cautious.

All inclusives - shared serving handles, mixed cutlery, mass dining. What could go wrong?

We usually go for a resort holiday, but this morning booked an AirBnB in Marbella. We booked the flights in January and weren't sure whether to go or not. I'm glad we are, and we will have to risk the flight (with masks)

You sir are a git ! I turned 50 during lockdown so couldn't go on my trip to Amsterdam to celebrate. I couldn't go out to dinner. I couldn't even go to the pub. And now you make me realise I qualify for SAGA holidays. If I had an ignore list I'd have to add you

As a new 50 year old Westdene, if your Home or Motor insurance is up for renewal SAGA now offer a 3 year fixed price promise too. Provided no claim or endorsements are added, the price you'd pay would be fixed for the next 2 renewals. Basically if nothing changes, neither will your price. It's not a contract though, so you'd you'd not tied in and could leave at renewal next year should you choose to do so. 3 year fixed price motor policies include onward transport solutions, legal costs and private medical cover for both you and Mrs Westdene as standard. 3 year fixed Home policies include worldwide cover for your personal belongings up to £10,000 anywhere in the world and accidental damage, including cover for pet damage, included as standard. Both home and car insurance products are designed to give customers peace of mind and provide the comprehensive, high-quality experience that car and homeowners expect from SAGA.

(Other home and motor insurance providers are available.)

I feel its safe as the medical experts are saying it safe to do so with precautions. I'm not medically trained so can only trust what the experts tell us which is what we have been doing all along. Not sure if any NSC users are professionally trained to the level to make public decisions on the current state of the pandemic.
On that basis i will be booking trips away for the rest of the year unless they tell us otherwise.

Enjoy your trip. I really do hope that things can get back to normal for as many people as possible.

Do some people think resorts are stupid :lolol: Spain for example, have introduced many safety measures that will make your trip entirely safe whilst you are there - the only risky thing is the plane journey IMO, and providing people use common sense and take hygiene seriously this shouldn’t be a massive issue, a couple of all inclusive resorts where I am a member have emailed me with the protocols.

Strict one way system around buffets
Limited capacity ins restaurants with people having to wear masks when they are not at their table.
Spaced out tables
Outdoor dining encouraged
Hand sanitising when entering
Masks worn in enclosed areas (similar to U.K)

To me, I totally understand people not wishing to travel for health reasons but I’ve got used to wearing a mask in shops and things now so it will be no different to here and it shouldn’t diminish the holiday experience too much, of course it all depends how much the protocols bother you, I’ve been looking at a few places I wouldn’t normally consider because of the british lout culture taking over in the summer, with most clubs being shut as a non Clubber that’s another plus for me.

There’s a risk with everything during these times, it’s up to your personal preference if you are willing to risk it and these countries will put a lot of resources into keeping things very safe but as normal as possible, millions of jobs and livelihoods depend on them keeping things safe.

sure be fine, eating outside , use own cutlery , deliver to room , eat out , use for drinks .

Be fine if use common sense

I’m only teasing, some great offers, although we did a Turkey all inclusive 2 years ago and each of us got a norovirus despite being very cautious with hand sanitisers etc. Only hit us as 24hr bugs, but despite being a more expensive resort which did appear to have high hygiene standards, they couldn’t eliminate this bug as Trip Advisor told us on our return. We couldn’t have done anymore in terms of hand washing, sanitising, I didn’t pick up a single servicing utensil without holding it with a clean napkin.

Totally this.

For those wanting to travel, the airports, airlines and overseas nations would’ve worked hard to prepare for this. One third full airports can only help.

Understandably reticent folk can stay at home.

yeah I've had a similar thing before. Cant hide away from life ( certainly if not a fit and well human ).

Understand your comments but on balance its worth the refundable gamble to have something to look forward to end aug / september when things should be in an even better place than now. Prices will almost certainly be alot more expensive

I get it that some people quite rightly don’t think it’s safe yet to travel, the fact is you soon will be and those that choose to go have decided it’s safe, they shouldn’t need to justify their decision to those that don’t, it seems we have developed a culture these days that any decision you make requires justification if it doesn’t fit the other’s narrative.

I hope to travel in August and won’t feel the need to justify to it anyone.

Some sort of normality has been returning for quite a while now across much of the the world (including some US states where lockdown lasted ‘ten minutes’, sadly they’re now paying a price). Holidays and travel mean so much to many people, we should be allowed the freedom to do so if public health experts believe the risks are low with mitigative actions in place.

I realise some very well intentioned environmentalists were hoping this day wouldn’t come, imho that wasn’t going to happen at this juncture.

All Insurers will offer differing levels of cover so it's really important to check what is covered when you look for a policy. A number of issues arise from lazy journalism (not just travel insurance) with people just reading headlines without going into the detail - have seen many people post on Travel Forums that "XYZ now covers for Covid" but that cover can range from Emergency Medical Treatment only to an all singing all dancing policy that will pay out if you are denied boarding at the airport due to Covid.

Best policy I have seen is Cedar Tree and they give details of a load of scenarios which is really helpful - https://www.cedartreeinsurance.com/coronavirus_cover.php

I have a fishing trip to Norway coming up on 6th August. I have everything crossed and am considering finding religion as a safeguard.

There's Norway you'll come back saying that you don't believe in Cod.
