How could anyone have guessed the same posters turning this into a political minefield, when a man, father and father to be is seriously ill.

He is a Politician, politics will always come into it. He has Fathered children, not sure any of them call him Dad though, his eldest has referred to him as a selfish *******, his youngest (confirmed) offspring he denied paternity of until proven, and will not say how many kids he has in total. He is not really a family man is he.

Simply disgraceful. Politics have nothing to do with the fact he is currently fighting for his life against a virus. Don’t try and dress up your ill wishes, we all know exactly what you are trying to say and it’s so distasteful.

It really comes down to whether you are able to split out the personal and the political.

On the political side, it is 100% the right thing to always question whether what the Government is doing is the correct course of action, and whether it is the appropriate means of dealing with anything. That is healthy and should be something everybody is prepared to do, and if you believe it to be wrong then it should be criticised, and people should be allowed to criticise it.

On the personal side, it is 100% the right thing to do to wish a man who is engaged and an expectant father well and to pull through this ghastly disease as soon as possible.

If you can't split these out and allow your personal opinions on either to cloud your position on the other then I'm afraid that's a sign of your own failings, not those of anyone else.

At the end of the day he is a father to be and has a partner which is 1st and foremost. Potentially there is a child who will be raised without a father. At the end of the day, he is partly responsible for the condition he is in, and was happy to adopt a position at the start of this where we let the virus spread, knowing it would kill many Fathers, Mothers, Son's and Daughters.

Fair enough, but when the direction of hmgov appears to be largely dictated by Boris's sultan of spin Dominic Cummings, then any initial reaction, well mine anyway, is to take whatever we're fed with a large pinch of salt. I don't really think you have anything to apologise for. All that week the government PR machine was posting pictures of Boris chairing meetings via video link, fully working, very mild symptoms etc. etc. It was a legitimate question of what was being presented as to why he wasn't giving a press conference via video link.

Incredible amount of hindsight now to know actually he's been more ill than has been let on to the public, and even today, though most of us realise he is very ill, you'd still think from government briefings that he's the healthiest person in ICU care.

I feel for his wife, who has cancer, two of his children and trying to get a divorce from him.

She HAD cervical cancer and was operated on, now considered free of the disease. She failed to apply for decree absolute in the time scales and had to apply to the courts to be given extra time to do so. The delay was due to the financial settlement being agreed.

I've written the facts without prejudice to either side.
