Hellish having to choose between artists, but the best compromise for me is S:

Simple Minds
Saint Etienne
Serge Gainsbourg & Jane Birkin [not joking, I love it]
The Smiths
Silver Pozzoli
Savage
Sparks
Scott McKenzie
Sheila B Devotion
Sister Sledge
Samuel Barber
Smetana
Space Brothers
Sylvester
Supertramp
Stretch & Vern
Still Corners
Slip
Soft Cell

Plus a sneaked video of Sugar Ray Leonard fights.

That lot should keep me going whilst I make a hut of coconut fibre.

+ Simply Red can do one

Pixies
Pulp
Prefab Sprout
P J Harvey
Paul Weller (so you get The Jam and Style Council right?)
Portishead
Pink
Patty Smith
Placebo
Pantera
Public Image Ltd

Of the top of my head, loads more I'm sure...

But mainly cos I wouldn't be leaving Prince behind.

I'd actually just be ok with everything Prince has recorded and written.

PJ and Duncan go under the bus though. Along with The 1975 even though they don't begin with P.

I disagree, three of my favourite bands beginning with C I have chosen, all 3 bands have made a shed load of albums.

Fair enough. Your choice. That's the game. But personally I couldn't live without more variety. And female voices.

You also get Phil Collins which is a bit of a double edged sword. But worth it just for the absolute BELTER that is Easy Lover (with Philip Bailey so no argument on that one).

Oh and Phil Oakey and Georgio Moroder, Electric Dreams.

Paul Simon did a few bangers as well. As did Peter Gabriel.....

I'll really miss a LOT but yes, P will do.

If I Googled this I could be here all night. Lol.

Surely everyone goes for surname sort for solo artists? Urgh, this makes me sure I'll lose someone I wanted on any given letter.

I'm a bit perturbed by Wozza's insistence that we use the first names of solo artists. Surely no-one files their record collections like that?!

Difficult one, but I'd probably plump for B -

British Sea Power - pretty huge and varied output, ranging from indie athems to film scores and some weird shit. Always something interesting to discover.

Brakes - underated Brighton band with three excellent albums.

Buzzcocks and Blondie - classic punk pop!

Bodega - one of my favoutite bands from the last few years. Brilliant debut album.

Belle & Sebastian (although might get on my tits after a while)
Billy Bragg (but see above)
Bjork
Beak>
Broken Social Scene
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club

I was going to put Blur as well, but honestly I just can't. Too irritating. If you went mad, you might end up thinking you were trapped on an island with Damon Albarn.

(Edit: forgot, there's some obscure band called The Beatles, too)

You also get Bruce, Bryan and the Bee Gees plus tons of other stuff.

Which isn't a bad thing.

But yes, being trapped on an island with Damon would probably end up with me utilising him for food after about a week (about two meals I reckon).

Although I do like some Blur shit, and Gorillaz, he just seems insufferably indifferent.

Agree that Broken Social Scene are a really good band btw.

Belle And Sebastian did my head in when I took my Mrs to see them as she loves them. Asked the audience what tunes they wanted to hear and despite her (and about 100 other people near the front) shouting "Boy With The Arab Strap" for half an hour, they didn't play it. They were still good from my point of view but....

Knife in the heart that I can't take Steely Dan when I've chosen P. Almost as bad as losing The Cure.

This is like choosing which child to put in the lifeboat. (I only have one so fortunately don't ever have to actually consider that). [emoji23]

There was also one very obvious omission (just edited my post!).

Only saw B&S once and enjoyed them but do have an attitude thing and find their music a bit insufferable at times. Lazy Line Painter Jane is great, tho.

Lots of other good Bs too... forgot Brian Jonestown Massacre, Beastie Boys, Butthole Surfers!

Some good calls there.

Let's face it, B has won.

Only if someone inadvertently recorded over all The Beatles stuff with Beastie Boys remixes.

P still by a country mile! I hadn't even started.

And even if I hadn't, Prince!

LOL.
