I was in my first year at University when Foxtrot came out. It absolutely blew me away.... and that was without the influence of any illegal substances that most - but not all - of my friends would do at the time. I wasn't really in to other prog rock, but Genesis were different. Great imaginative and theatrical songs and great music and musicianship - much more gritty than anyone like Yes.

Supper's ready is something I can happily listen to again today, along with the whole of Selling England by the Pound.

I saw them twice in the early 1970s, once when Foxtrot had just come out, and then after SEBTP came out. Tremendous - and for the most part I was and had been far more in to Bluesy type stuff and Rock - Cream, The Allman Brothers band, Fleetwood Mac...….

But later without Gabriel was not the same!

I saw Genesis at the Dome in 1970 something - fantastic gig with Gabriel opening with Watcher of the Skies. Saw the ex Gabriel version at Wembley in 1980 something - still a great gig and great band. I pretty much like all that they’ve done, but the early stuff takes some beating and I’ve a great live vinyl album with Musical Box, the Knife and other stuff, which I still play. Hope I can get tickets for the reunion gigs.

I’ve just got a ticket to see them in Leeds of all places - going with a couple of friends. £182.50 a head including crazy ticketmaster fees! I prefer earlier Genesis era - so also going to see Steve Hackett (again) at The Dome and also Southampton ... tickets a tad cheaper!! But my friends twisted my arm - and it will probably be the last time I get to see them. Last one was Knebworth back in 1992!!

I have liked Genesis since the late seventies but would not pay that unless Gabriel and Hackett were

Managed to get four for me, Mrs Crodo and our good friends Polly and Giles. Absolutely phenomenal demand, just checked back and only tickets remaining are platinum tickets high up in the gods for £386.50 each.

£386.50 each to see just over half of a band - just ridiculous but I suppose, just like personalised number-plates, coke and designer watches, it's a chance to show off the fact that you've got too much money!

When I bought my tickets for Knebworth in 1992 I cut out a coupon from the paper and sent off a postal order. For some reason that seems easier and fairer. Genuine fans are being ripped off by online ticket touts like viagogo hoovering up all the tickets and then selling them at multiple times the face value (excuse the pun). It should be illegal. It's *ucking greedy.
