This also protects our interest as we can now demand a fee for a future transfer if that is the way things go.

I'd prefer him to finish his career with us however, he is an excellent role model and the type of player we need around the dressing room.

It doesn't sit well with me that he is a legend here but that the Nigels like him too, so I'm hoping on the last day of the season he scores the goal that keeps us up and sends them down instead.

If Carlsberg did season endings...

Still hope we'll see a few more minutes of Murray AND Maupay up top together at some point.

Still enjoy his  reaction to Knocky's goal against Palace. You can see he wanted to enjoy it more...

Great news, we have lost too many experienced pros from the squad recently.
Those young guys will get a lot out of this.

Our own fault. Still leaves me shaking my head that we destroyed League One and couldn't find a sum to ensure our 22 goal top scorer wouldn't start our first season at the Amex. Such a shame to reflect on those absent 5 years, GM as a 28 to 33 year old. Still, we had CMS so...

Excellent news, Saturday shows he still had it and with a number of new / young faces coming in (Maupay and Connolly for now, hopefully more to come in the summer) he can bring a much needed experienced head to proceedings, and if we do go down he can definitely still do a job at Championship level if others choose to scarper.

If he scores in the last game of his extended contract would he be the oldest ever Premier league player to score? (obviously if we're still in the Premier league)

Nope. Sheringham was almost 41! Murray would still be behind Windass (39), Giggs (39), Stuart Pearce (38) and, amazingly, Peter Schmeichel (37 years 11 months).

Peter Schmeichel never scored a Premier League goal.

Sorry to do this guv;

Aston Villa (2001–2002)
Schmeichel returned to England with Aston Villa in July 2001, signing a one-year contract with the option to extend it by a further year.[36] On 20 October 2001, Schmeichel became the first goalkeeper to score a Premier League goal, in a 3–2 defeat away to Everton;[14] this feat has been repeated only four times: by Blackburn Rovers' Brad Friedel on 21 February 2004, also from a corner kick; by Tottenham Hotspur's Paul Robinson from a free-kick on 17 March 2007; by Everton's Tim Howard on 4 January 2012; and by Stoke City's Asmir Begović on 2 November 2013.

This is my favourite bit of his post-signing interview...

“I always try to pass things on when needed – probably more so to Aaron because he’s a bit younger. I just try and lead by example and go to [goalkeeping coach] Ben Roberts after training to get a finishing drill put on and things like that.

“Aaron and Neal join in and that’s a good habit to get into in terms of hitting the back of the net regularly.”

Possibility that this is a marriage of convenience. He is obviously frustrated at his lack of game time. Potter and club obviously want a different striker.

Club couldn't get a different striker in January but might do in the summer... so to avoid Glen kicking off to force a move when we still need him as a back up (or main man now, who knows!?) we've offered him effectively another year contract so that he has the security at least, if not the playing time.

I imagine that if in the summer we sign another striker or two, and he can find himself another club we'll let him go on a free with a happy handshake!

Essentially:

Club (in August): “we think you’re old and slow and you won’t make the team”

Murray (now): “I don’t care if you think I’m old and slow, Give me a new deal and some game time or I’m going to forest, leaving you with nowhere near enough strikers”

Club: “ok then”
