He's undisputibly a highly enriched weapons-grade BELLEND inside a football ground, but I hope his shop survives.

I've always loved the randomness of second hand bookshops, and charity shops for that matter. I can quite happily browse the bookshelves for ages in those stores while the doris does her rounds, and often come away with a well THUMBED edition of something-or-other for a couple of quid. My latest purchase was an excellent paperback on Dunkirk from a Cancer Research shop, for a bit of shrapnel in my pocket.

Long may these stores survive the scourge of Amazon.

Gotta support local bookshops. Love mine. Never buy online.

Looks rather different on a match day when banging his drum. I do support him with this though, I'm a regular visitor to my local Waterstones in Horsham.

I've sometimes hopped on the number 17 for a pilgrimage to Waterstones in Horsham.

Agree that bookshops need our support; even more important though is supporting your local library. We don’t need to own books when you think about it, read them and move them on. A poll of library card holders on NSC, would, I fear, reveal that few on here are active members.

Can't believe that's HIM from Pompey! I'm imagining, on a Tuesday night game, he gets home and does the whole 'Tonight Matthew I'm going to be...' thing, walking through a smoky door and everything.

Commander and I sat just behind him at an England game at Wembley some years back. Noisy bugger he was.

He's also been interviewed on the Radio 2 news at lunchtime and said since he tweeted he's had loads of replies and enquiries and loads of people coming into his shop. Good luck to him!

Brighton factually.....
Spoke to him on train back from Preston Park to Brighton after a withdean match, came across very well.

He should come across ok for that period of time....

You: "Hi how you doing ?"
BE "Yea...." -- intrupted by a loud tannoy announcement --"We are pulling into Brighton, next stop Brighton"
BE "Ah this is me then, see ya"

Could be wrong, but I can't imagine Mr Westwood would regard somebody buying books at Waterstones as "supporting" his kind all that much.

Blimey, he looks different in his work clothes. I knew he was a bookseller, but I kinda pictured him in a hovel of a shop surrounded by tottering piles of old secondhand paperbacks. He looks almost academic.

Kind of like many of the poor down and outs on our streets that had good lives before things took a turn for the worse.
