Love all the posters on here looking down at people simply because they take advantage of a cheap holiday opportunity.

We’ve used it for several years to have a 5 day break with our dogs as they don’t accompany us on our summer holidays.

It’s in Cornwall, the accommodation is a ground floor, two bedroom, well appointed apartment with few neighbours. Views from front and back are stunning, 200 acres to walk the spaniels and a fantastic 200 year old estate lake to fish.

About £80 for us and the dogs.

How do they get to £80 from £9.50?

BG we have a static caravan in Brittany and love it. We are 25 minutes away from St Malo near Dol de Bretagne. Dol is a lovely little town but there are many not too far away like Dinard, Fourgiers and Dinan. We seldom venture much further afield as we dont feel the need. If I wanted the sun I would drive further south and use B&Bs. Driving is easy (I have only encountered 'Priorite au droix' once which was a bit tricky but generally the roads, even the major ones, are not busy. You'll love it

I dont know for sure but based on ours last year:

You pay in 2s so for 3 people you have to book and pay for 4 =£38
Service charge per unit (Gas, E|lectric etc) £3.50 per day = £14
Club membership to use the bars 3 people @£4.50 = £13.50
Presumably extra for each dog cant remember how much each dog we had 1 and our all in price was £75 approx
so £80 soon becomes the price with hidden extras

The ones I looked at in Brittany had no service or membership charges but then of course there is the ferry price to add. Newhaven- Dieppe £146 return for car and passengers. As I poster said the French roads are great to drive on even the N roads through the small towns and villages. We always avoid the toll roads and notice the majority that use them are Brits, Belgium and German not French.

If you don’t try BG you will never know, we did this years ago in Blackpool meet family who live in Scotland and had an alright time apart from the weather. Nice bit of snobbery on this thread, you could pay a few grand and still end up holidaying with pikeys.

Love that area.

Played golf at Dol and it was one of the best courses I have ever played.

We stayed at Granville and a couple of camp sites around the area with eurocamp when the girls were small!

If there's one thing worse than holidaying with Sun reading Pikeys its holidaying with the Guardian reading woke set .. [emoji6]

Everybody must see a Sun in the bin or left on a bus or train or at work if they don't wish to buy the paper but want the vouchers, but I buy it because I like their 2 Sudoku puzzles, that I usually do at between 3 and 4 am, when I wake during the night. Also their football gossip and transfer speculation is more accurate than most of the so called higher grade papers.

In life, generally, wisdom comes with age.

Although I'm probably a decade behind BG, when I see "four day Brittany holiday for £9.50" - the following life-learnings immediately spring to mind.

1/ You pays for yer learning
2/ If something seems too good to be true, it probably is
3/ You get what you pay for

Please share your post-holiday report with us all to test these wisdom theories ...

So is that why you seem to come out with some daft proposals of who could do a job for us?

No I dont write for The Sun and they are my opinions which may seem daft to some but not to others. They are suggesting Villa go for Joe Hart at £2m to replace the injured Heaton rather than Butland at £30m as both make the same mistakes and they would only play until Heaton is back fit. Logical.

We did this when we stayed in a gite south west of Rouen. Never again. Took us hours and hours and everywhere was shut (it was a Saturday afternoon and we struggled to find somewhere open for lunch). On the way back to the Channel Tunnel, we used the toll roads, took us half the time. I'd rather pay a little bit more, use less petrol and actually not be knackered when I get to where I'm going.
