I don’t think you have a clue about Potter and the players he likes and doesn’t

True. That troll has constantly attacked Ali-J since we signed him. Hell will freeze over before he ends his ignorant attacks. Ali-J could score every game and he’d still want him out.

Seemingly a player showing a glimmer of the potential you've refused to accept exists.

Confusing me with someone else - I have always seen good in him. The lad I sit next to reminded me of this today

Hopefully will now go from strength to strength. Thought he looked very good today. Tired towards the end but understandable seeing it is his 1st game

I was answering your 'what's not too like?' question on behalf of those joyless characters who'd rather be proven right than see a much maligned Albion player have a moment in the sun (well not rain! )

Apologies.

Sometimes you're too subtle, even for me, and I am a man of great subtlety, oh yes!

Hope he will stay if he can produce performances like that. Potter didn’t have to play him today and did so he must be in the plans. Getting rid of him makes no sense unless we have a replacement lined up

He didn’t look out of place, his first touch in particular (including from some long pinged crossfield balls from Dunky) was excellent (almost Bruno-esque) and he worked his nuts off for the team. Worth persevering with IMO, there is a good technical player there and when we decide we want to use a winger he’s a good option. Pleased to see the love for him from GP and the rest of the squad too........they knew what it meant to him.

I just don't understand how Ali can go from not starting for 230 day to today's first half (lesser so in the second) performance.

The repeated mantra has always been:-

'Well GPott sees him in training and isn't picking him, so get rid & good riddance'.

It's tough to argue with and certainly makes more sense than my rather lame:-

'Needs to play further forward and be allowed to cut inside'.

I always felt he was well suited to this team and yet Potter didn't.
Then out of nowhere he appears, jeopardising his imminent loan deal, only to put in a 'can't drop me performance'.

There's been plenty of games, this season needing the whole width of the pitch and for most of them Ali hasn't even been in the 18.

Wrongly or very wrongly I think he only played because Webster didn't.
So Monty was kept further back for Duffy's sake requiring a player who wasn't Gross in front.

In the same way that the Greyhound looked like a footballer who won his place in a lucky dip and would never play for us again. Comes back from a bad injury and looks great. Potter is a genius FACT (or maybe these players just needed handling properly and playing a formation that suited them)

I guess I'm just surprised it's taken half a season and GPott waited till one minute to midnight before showing his hand.

Ali must still be odd-on to leave but instead of 95% of this board revving their engines, outside the AMEX.
It's now a case of 'are you sure?'

Yes this. I couldn't see him doing much despite the brief glimpses in the past,, but that game today, he was exceptional. The goal on 3 mins was perfect for his confidence, he took a few pops after that which was very good to see. The quality we hoped for when he was signed.

Taken time but looks like he has arrived as a Brighton player.

Great to see him as the player we hoped he'd be instead of the walking confirmation bias many think he is.

Probably didn't look like a record signing, unsurprisingly.
But most definitely looked like a footballer, which will come as a surprise to many.

I thought you'd be the first to bounce this. Instead you were simply the most condescending.

He was tremendous today and the goal was a real "I was there" moment. I hope it's the first of many. I hope this is the turning point, I hope he proves me wrong every time he goes on the pitch, because then we'll win lots of football matches. He gets a HUGE amount of credit for sticking with it, training hard and taking his chance. I'll wait until he plays against a better team than that before I post my "but.....". For now let him enjoy it.

Nah. Can't see him leaving now.

Schelotto looked great in one game, and he didn’t do a lot of defending..... that shouldn’t detract from how well he played though. He really was very good.

AJ however, does have a great touch, and the finish was excellent. The issue of a complete lack of pace remains. Hopefully this is the start of great things for him.

Think you’re going a bit OTT re Potter [emoji2], but good for you.

Hardly condescending.

If you haven't labelled him "not even a footballer" then I wasn't talking about you.

For those that have I was simply pointing out he is a footballer.
Even then I've repeatedly caveated with "glimmer", "no so much in the second half" "moment in the sunshine" and in the post you quoted "didn't look like a record signing".

While also agreeing the 'Potter sees him training' argument holds (or should that be held) considerably more weight than anything "lame" that I offered up.

But the fact remains he hasn’t started.

However, your second observation is a really good one IMO. Monty was more restrained with defending the priority, and naturally having a ‘proper’ CB helped as well.

Good for AJ - I also think he’ll go out on loan.

I assume you hankering for Big Jurg’s return now?

Hmmm. Not sure about odds on now. Unless you know of a move having been lined up?
