My dog only drinks filtered water, the cat would only drink Evian for a while, now he’s got round to the filtered water idea. I did think the cat was taking the piss when I caught him drinking out of shitty puddle which lead to a fairly heated exchange.

Back to the question I always think tea tastes terrible out of metal kettle so always go for plastic one if that helps.

I grew up in a house with a whistling kettle on the gas cooker.
I've been to houses with an Aga and seen kettles used on them

I find this very hard to believe.

Ah, that's not so bad. May I ask which models? I had a look at some on Amazon, and the Architect one was getting poor reviews (mainly for how loud it is).

This one at home... with all the matching toaster, jars and so on.

Do people drink from the bathroom tap? My misses wont even though we have no tanks! I've told her 100 times it's the same water that's in the kitchen!

Pre Combi days, the cold water taps upstairs were usually fed from the cold water storage tank in the loft.

See other posts on what this means.

Doesnt this question relate back to the 'old days' when you have hot water tanks with stagnant water in for your hot water so used the cold water mains.

Stagnant water? That wouldn't have been the water coming out of the tap, so no.

Surely the water in hot water tanks is, that is what my dad, a proper plumber, not the snap connector plastic pipe ones, always told me as a young lad.

So BG did your ‘proper plumber ‘ dad also tell you that you had a bath and wash is stagnant water?

Yes the water in the cylinder would be the water that comes out the tap, but then it wouldn't be stagnant, as it would be constantly refreshed (regularly being emptied and filled with water from the header tank). Not drinking water, for reasons covered in the thread, but not stagnant either.

Which one performs the best (filling, pouring, speed, noise)?

Funny, he goes quiet when the facts are explained to him. :D

I won't drink from the bathroom tap as the sink is perhaps 2 feet from where I once a day plant something ghastly. It feels like drinking in a bar with no toilets and just a bucket with a lid in each corner.

I would be more worried about cleaning your teeth in the same room, unless you store your toothbrush elsewhere.

As a child in the 40s/50s we didnt have running hot water we used to have to light the coke boiler to heat the water for a bath and boil a kettle for a wash or shave.so that wasnt relevant. Mind you dad passed away 35 years ago so times and attitudes have changed somewhat but I still wouldnt fill the kettle from the hot tap, old habits etc.

When we lived "over the shop", we used to have a tin bath!

My dad passed away longer ago than your dad - 49 years!.... Not that it is a competition.
