My 2 favourite starters for any meal are both missing from that list Garlic Prawns or Garlic Mushrooms. Tomato Soup is my least favourite followed by Prawn Cocktail. Of the choice on the list, if I had to chose, it would be homemade course pate with homemade multigrain bread.

Smoked salmon from the Hebridean Smokehouse and a glass or two of champagne.
We have this in the sitting room, prior to sitting down for the turkey.
Lovely!

Want to do something with scallops. Saw a nice recipe this week, which will test this weekend. Ginger, Leek and Carrot very thinly sliced, blanched. Soy sauce mixed, into shell with sliced scallops inside. Shell on top, seal with a puff pastry trim, and place in oven. Butter sauce when serving! Looked delicious.

Sounds lovely, but I reckon I might be a bit too squiffy to cook that on Christmas morning!:D

IMHO anything with Brioche would be awful as that in itself is such. Much to sweet for me but I know it is a current trend and the IN thing to be pro Brioche but not for me.

Well said BG. I far prefer a bit of brioche and an early dip into the Xmas pud.
