That is because 50% or about 33m couldnt be bothered to vote so you have to stick with those that did and could be bothered and respect the result and act on it.

Not quite BG. It was actually closer to 17million. These were people that either:

a). Couldn't be bothered
b). Were not eligible (e.g. in prison at the time)
c). Too young to vote
d). Incapable to voting (e.g. in Hospital)
e). Unable to get back to vote (e.g. Stuck on Southern's shite so called train service coming home from work) - I remember their service being extremely shite on the day of the vote as it took me just as long to get home on the train as it wouldv'e taken me to walk and thinking "I wonder how many people will not get back in time to vote".

It seems that MPs may not back Boris but the voting public do and he knows that and that is why he wants a GE soon and and get a large majority but for the same reasons.Corbyn etc dont.

Not true, Boris wants an Election because for a General Election, Parliament has to be suspended for 5 weeks. This takes us up to the deadline without any extension. He's playing games with you and the opposition can see right through it.

Not sure if this has been discussed yet but what Stella Creasey raised yesterday about Brexit propaganda being broadcast on school digital noticeboards is dark indeed.

It hasn't been discussed, and the Government were very shifty about it yesterday.

It's incredibly creepy.

Boris Johnson can have an election whenever he likes. All he has to do is write a letter to the EU saying the Brexit deadline is extended to at least 31st January and get their agreement. Once he's done that he can election himself silly.

If Johnson and his merry band of advisors truly wanted an election, he could introduce a one line bill.

The reason he won’t is Labour could then introduce amendments, and get a date of their own choosing. Makes you wonder who is really avoiding a GE.

You are showing your stupidity here. How many were eligible to vote? Certainly nowhere near 33m. And those most affected (16-18) were not included in the vote (unlike the Scottish Referendum). You only see what the Daily Mail tells you to.

The boards are run by a company called Anomaly. Why are we allowing an outside company to broadcast anything into schools without their consent?

BG, if you only read the Sun or the Mail, and only watch BBC news and their daily vox pops from strong Leaver areas with possibly one out of 6 interviews being with a remainer, then you will get a very skewed view of how the country would vote.
Johnson will not get to leave without a deal, and he won’t get a large majority.

I think it remains to be seen whether the voting public backs Boris. Large numbers are totally opposed to absolutely everything that he is doing and, more importantly, THE WAY that he is doing it. Even members of his own party after yesterday were expressing their disgust at his performance in the House Of Commons, which seemed more destined to stir up hatred and create division than anything else. When the News programmes go out to interview people as to what they think, I wonder if they are deliberately seeking out Brexiteers, and are often going deliberately to places which voted Leave by a significant majority.

BG's gone off to change his pants as he just had an 'accident' laughing.

Quite why people keep feeding him is completely beyond me.

I was thinking about this last night actually.

The data here : https://yougov.co.uk/topics/politics/articles-reports/2016/06/27/how-britain-voted has 60% of 59-64 year olds and 64% of 65+ voting to Leave. It makes me wonder how many, in the intervening years, have passed away and whether that number is offset by the number of people who were too young to vote in 2016 who would vote Remain given the chance. This 2018 data from the BBC : https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-45098550 indicates 82% of 18-24 year olds would vote to Remain so I imagine it would.

I may have a look at it when I get home later. The ONI would have information relating to deaths, by age, in 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 so it shouldn't be too hard to work out.

Before anyone gets on my case I'm not saying that the votes of those who have died are no longer legitimate; their vote counted in 2016 still does now. Just thought it an interesting stat to chase.

I think you give him too much credit. I am sure he genuinely believes what he writes

Said noone ever!!

It all seems a bit convenient to me.
BG suddenly finds out he's a staunch bluer than blue Tory just at the same time posters are easily riled by the Tories.

Said me, a few minutes ago.

He reads his Tory press, and he absorbs it wholesale.

He doesn't question it, and he utterly believes it. There are many like him as seen in BBC vox pops, where they seem to actively seek out the local BG.

If this is to be believed and given (i) a rough population of 66M; (ii) a 72% voting rate (as in 2016); (iii) birth rate 18-20 years ago similar to today; and (iv) 90% of deaths are aged 60+:

  • 2.4M new young people eligible to vote - 1.73M new voters - +1.4M for Remain; +0.3M for Leave
  • 1.7M fewer over-60s - 1.2M fewer voters = -0.45M for Remain; -0.76M for Leave

That's a shift of 1.36M votes towards Remain - greater than the margin in 2016.

Hmmm...
