How far from the mark is this:-

Boris wants no confidence because he believes a GE will give him the majority he needs.

Parliament won't give him a GE until 'no deal' is off the table and another extension agreed.

Boris believes he can force no confidence by acting like someone for whom you have no confidence.

Parliament wont give him no confidence because the more he acts without confidence the less likely he is to win a GE.

Is that really where we are at now?

i see the line of thinking. a crucial misunderstanding is that in the wider country, away from the remain camp, Johnson actions are looked upon favourably. Labour know this, which is why they dont want the GE, not because he looks less competent.

I do wonder what type of people, away from the remain camp, would look upon his actions yesterday favourably.

What did you think of them ???

The type of people who go on EDL and DFLA marches must look upon his actions favourably, because in London 3 Saturday's back they were chanting his name.

I didn't think Johnson and his braying cronies could sink any further, but after that performance in the Commons it's clear that there's more to come. What a truly and utterly dreadful specimen; the worst of a bad bunch.

Yeah I think he’s done now. He’s pissed off so many MPs that there is now talk of new legislation to force an extension request ASAP. He’s demonstrated he has no morals at all and he definitely can’t be trusted to obey the law and enact the Benn bill when it triggers. Thankfully his total lack of a commons majority will allow such legislation to be passed in time to stop this madness.

I wonder whether Boris Johnson thinks all young mothers who are murdered are best respected and remembered by everyone doing what their murderers want?
Please hold whilst he asks Dom to tell him what he is thinking.

It's interesting the the line Cox mentioned a few times about a one line bill was dropped by the time Johnson spoke - it would be a desperate measure as it would be amendable, for example Labour would like EU nationals living here to be able to vote in the GE, Lib Dems would like 16 and 17 year old to vote, there is a chance those amendments would pass.

He's just not going to send the letter on the 17th. He thinks he's found a way around it, so more Opposition legislation likely to be put forward to strengthen the Benn bill.

The state of the Tories last night was beneath contempt.

The language you are using is no better than Boris. Associating leave voters with racism is really pathetic. Had it occured to you that there are BAME leave voters? Probably not.

Try reading what was written

Not all leavers are stupid, but half the electorate are more stupid than the average person

It's hard to imagine how someone could read the post you quoted and understand it less than you clearly managed.

Today the RRS Sir David Attenborough is being officially launched. For those of you struggling to see the relevance, there was a public vote in 2016 which produced the name Boaty McBoatFace as the public's preferred name. However it was decided that this was actually just something that would make us an international laughing stock and so was changed by experts into something more realistic, while retaining the choice as part of the process (by naming one of the vessel's submarines Boaty McBoatFace).

Imagine that. A result in 2016 being ignored because it actually turned out to be stupid...

It seems that MPs may not back Boris but the voting public do and he knows that and that is why he wants a GE soon and and get a large majority but for the same reasons.Corbyn etc dont.

How on earth do you know the voting public back Boris?
1. It is a fact not every Leave voter voted for a No Deal or even considered it a viable possibility. It is clear many thought we'd have a deal keeping us closely aligned but not in the Union.

2. If Boris wants an election, extend the Brexit deadline so that whoever wins has time to negotiate their policy on Brexit. What is the point of a GE that gives the winner no time ahead of the 31st deadline?

3. The Tories could have asked for a general election INSTEAD of electing a new leader. That was at the point the winning party or parties could still negotiate their Brexit on their terms. Even with a reducing number of seats they still tried to cling on to power. Absolutely ridiculous to now put this on the opposition when you've left just 4 weeks before the deadline.

That is because 50% or about 33m couldnt be bothered to vote so you have to stick with those that did and could be bothered and respect the result and act on it.

Yet you lot still spout the 'will of the people'. If all the people haven't spoken, it isn't the will of the people.

I think you're roughly 0/50 on getting things right in this thread.

Not sure if this has been discussed yet but what Stella Creasey raised yesterday about Brexit propaganda being broadcast on school digital noticeboards is dark indeed.
