I'm struggling to work out if those words are in the correct order or not :lolol: Who has been warned? About what?

Oh dear lord,
Our tariffs will be what we set, they are not subject to what the WTO determines under their “rules”. We can set any import rate we want as long as they match or are under the bound rates we have submitted as part of our commitment to the maximum rate in our WTO schedule.
The WTO does not set our import tariff rates, we do
The current applied tariff rates that we have set in the event of no deal (which are temporary and adjustable) have 87% of imports by value being tariff-free not 100% as you are saying.
Import tariffs are for imports, countries do not set export tariffs on their own goods that they obviously wish to export to us or anyone else free of tariffs. We determine what tariffs apply to goods coming into the country.

Err. Completely wrong! WTO means we cannot set our own tariff rates, they are set at the rate of current WTO rates between existing nations. If a new, lower, rate is set between us and the EU under WTO, they have to trade at that rate with everyone else under WTO, which they may not want to do.

Although published last August, this video is the best I have ever seen that factually and accurately explains what WTO is.

would that also be this that he believed in?

"We see nothing but good and hope in a richer, freer, more contented European commonalty. But we have our own dream and our own task. We are with Europe, but not of it. We are linked, but not comprised. We are interested and associated, but not absorbed. And should European statesmen address us in the words which were used of old, 'Wouldest thou be spoken for to the king, or the captain of the host?', we should reply, with the Shunammite woman: 'I dwell among mine own people."

Being that the referendum was not based on what constituency you lived in isn't it a bit odd to be arguing about how each one voted?

Which Tory MPs are you referring too?

not really a Tory issue is it, otherwise Labour would be romping away in the polls.

All of the MPs not representing the wishes of their constituents. Not difficult.

Ah, you mean the Tory ERG MPs who continually voted against leaving the EU, smoothly and orderly with a deal, in stark contrast with the wishes of their constituents who voted for them on the basis they would vote for leaving the EU smoothly and orderly with a deal. Gotcha

This must be at least the third time a remainer has suggested the Great man would have been on their team ... all rather unnecessary, distasteful and inaccurate. In truth none of us really know.

Conveniently forgetting the MPs who are voting against their remain constituents where I posted a link, post 96028
Also Sir Nicholas Soames voting for a deal to leave, and now voting against no deal.

What you really mean is MPs not voting the way you want. You seem to want no deal.

He wants to “win”. That’s all that matters. Winning. **** the rules, **** democracy, it’s his ball and if he can’t play then no one can. We’re at that level now.

I wish for the result of the referendum, which MPs endorsed the result of, to be delivered. How/why/when and where is up to the Parliament bods. Just wish they'd hurry up a bit, boring now.

Prepared to be bored for a long long time. This is just the Withdrawal agreement. Trade deals are going to take a long long time.

In fact the quickest way for things to return to any sort of normality is to revoke Article 50, and then work from within the EU to reform it.

Makes perfect sense for Boris to call an election, whether he says he wants one or not. Increased Tory majority would allow them to kick the neanderthals of the DUP back into the long grass where they belong

Umm i dont know what that video says, i didnt watch it and i wont if thats what you are saying it says (i wont waste my time) is there a possibility you misunderstood what it said.?

There are no WTO rates, or WTO default rates as some have said.
Countries and customs unions like the EU really do set their own import tariff rates. They do not rely on the WTO to set the import rates for them.
Think USA China as a recent example of two countries raising their import rates to a mad extent by their own choice, and not having to stick to defined rates from the WTO.
The WTO is a forum that is member driven, it is not a body that sets import tariffs
If the WTO set import rates we would not have been able to place our bound rates (the rates we promise not to exceed) on the table as part of our WTO schedule.....but we did. In the same way the EU itself would not have been able to set its own bound rates if the WTO specified what rates are to be used.....but the EU has done that.
If the WTO sets import rates we would not have been able to set our own applied rates( the rates that are actually used which are adjustable according to needs,( eg seasonal with agriculture from different hemispheres, or adjustable due to currency fluctuations).....but we have laid out our applied rates as have all the countries in the WTO.......because countries set their own import tariff rates.
We cant set a special rate between us and the EU so i dont know where you are going with that, we could have a preferential rate with the EU if it was via a trade deal, but we are not at that stage.
The import rates we set apply to everyone we do not have a trade deal with, this is one of the arguments why the EU want to protect their common external tariff and why there is a backstop. If you really think the WTO sets the tariff rates then there is no need for a backstop, no need for trade deals either.......everyone just goes to the WTO (the EU are in the WTO) and lets them sort it out.............sorry chap, you have got the wrong end of the stick somewhere
