There was one specific question about the womens team - asking for more games at the Amex. And TB / PB mentioned their transfer window, vision for the team ( "a top 4 club") , and how more competitive it had become as a league (Spurs/Man Utd) , and the impact of the Amex deal (a new womens football centre). but it was probably only a couple of minutes of the entire hour.
TLO question was a brief one about the # of seats and the limited expansion plans.

Yeah, I didn't want to say anything, I thought maybe it was just me.

When that question was asked, and the way Tony looked as he was considering his answer, something about that whole thing just seemed not as unequivocal as I would have expected.

I'm going to assume (and hope) that we are just reading too much into it. Maybe he was just feeling a little like, "really? you need to ask that?". I certainly hope so.

Not sure, but I got the impression that there would be some kind of card system (cards made by Amex). Maybe supporters will issued some kind of Amex/Albion cash card which they will be able to top up and then use those funds with a quick wave/swipe without having to fuss around with cash, and as a result the turnaround time for buying a pint and pie etc should be reduced.

I can't say for certain that this is the plan, but PB was talking about the Amex going cashless and he pointed out the fact that our sponsors happen to be in the card payment business.

So this is just speculation on my part.

We had cards we could preload when we first moved into the Amex, with a percentage refunded but that was abandoned.

This 100%. PB was firm and didn’t get bogged down wasting the evening on that complainant’s whinge. Did the same with the much repeated old chestnut of Safe Standing.

Bad news. 'Cashless' is a blatant revenue maximising scam - increasingly in use at Festivals these days. You have to use your 'real' card to buy festival money - on a card, your wristband or whatever. This is the only way you can buy anything on site - if you run out of festival money, you can top it up with real money from your real card.
The result of this is that everybody leaves with a quid or two of festival money which they can't spend anywhere else (and there's nothing that costs as little as a quid or two to spend it on anyway!) Yes, if you look hard enough, there is probably a way you can get the festival money paid back to you, but most people don't bother for the sake of a quid or two, it's too much trouble - and the organisers realise this; that's why they do it.
At the Amex on match day it could probably generate about another £20K or £30K revenue in unused 'cashless' cash - maybe a little less if STHs could carry it forward from one match to the next..

I don't have the time to read all of this thread. Has anyone pointed out Man City defended corners and free kicks with all 11 men in their own box? A man considered one of the best managers in the world using the same tactic our manager uses and is challenged on by fans at the fans forum.

PB made it plain tonight that people paying cash on the concourse is the cause of the slow service.

Anything that solves that is great news for punters.

Nothing sinister by the club, just pay by debit or credit card.

I don't think the intention is to go back to the ST being a payment card it will just be debit/credit card/phone/watch all using contactless to pay. The majority of transactions will be under £30 and higher you just enter the pin. Just like Spurs new ground for example.

Quite encouraged by the forum; nice to hear Potter's eloquent replies to the questions and get an idea of his sense of humour and character. My only disappointment was that extra seating will be squeezed in here and there rather than another tier on the North Stand but I guess that would involve substantial input from the Council and having to deal with objections from The Usual Suspects. If it means avoiding potentially years of planning wrangling (again!) so be it. I'll settle for what can be realistically achieved in the shorter term.

Bloke from Polegate not happy about Seagulls Travel price increase. Paul Barber explains it was a double subsidy, so the club has removed the excess, that the coach operators had.

I thought that PB answered that question well saying that if people wished to travel to games privately why should others subsidies that travel.

Don't worry GT, they may not accept shillings and ha'pennies from you old thru'peny bits, but a postal order is still cashless !
