Utter bollocks. Mitrovic is easily good enough for the Premier League - 11 goals last season in an underperforming side.

He only got to double figures because he had the good fortune to be in the same division as the Albion.

The only surprise for me, is that its a loan with the option to buy at an agreed fee at the end of the deal.

Does this mean that if Fulham come back up they will pull out of the deal as Knockaert isnot seem as PL standard by other PL teams

Obviously we don't know the full details, but I wondered this as well. He was excellent in the Championship for us, and presumably Leicester as well, but was nowhere near as impressive in the PL against much better defenders - and I think Leicester had realised that. Yes, he may well help Fulham to promotion, and I hope he does, but would they really want him, given the experience of 2 clubs? I have my doubts.

Possibly. But it saves a year's salary on a player deemed surplus, and if he is still any good he will contribute to an amazing season and Fulham will more than likely want to buy him. How long will he have left on his contract at the end of next season? One year? If he has a flier and Fulham say 'no ta' we have him back. If he flops we have at least mitigated some of the pain.

Crikey, I like the way we spend 34 pages trying to out-suss our chairman. What's the betting his punt is more clever than anything any of us can fathom? And before anyone says this wasn't his call....don't make me laugh!

Not directed at you, studio150, this rant, btw. I regard you as a fellow wanderer in the desert.

After 45 years supporting Brighton a bit of me has lost all respect of this club. I don’t care if you all think I am a snowflake or the pathetic bedwetter accusation, this management has taken away our most flair players and left us with uninspiring journeymen.

If we are happy that we can lose a game changer then fine, but I for one am f4cked off with this.

Sorry, i've backed the club for a lot of things, but I have absolutely no idea why we've done this. We survived by 2 points over 3 shocking premier league teams last year, we need to strengthen, not weaken. We're a team, who you could kindly describe as functional with very few creative options. What exactly is going on behind the scenes on this one?

So on this thread, i've heard, it frees up wages - For who exactly? Maupay? Would he even get on the bench? ....
... Then I've heard Trossard is the replacement, well probably he is. But we have no idea if he is actually any good. He may have played well in the Belgian league, but as we know, that's no guarantee he can make the transition to English football quickly, if at all ....
....Then there was some bloody idiot that was arguing we were better off as Ali J, would finally get a run in the side. Well if he had played well enough (or possibly if he did anything useful at all) to displace our first choice winger over the course of the season, he would have had more of a chance in the side.

Finally, if we're going to sell, then let's sell. We can get up front cash, which we can throw at getting someone with the quality to keep us up, but no. £10m, which we will get at the end of the season. Even if we do stay up, the transfer market will have gone up by another 20% by then.

Maybe the club are going to pull something spectacular out of the fire in the next couple of weeks. Maybe Potter has the (frankly astonishing) ability to make Locadia and Ali J better wingers than Knockeart. Maybe Izquierdo is closer to fitness than we think and he's had the epiphany that it's permissible in the laws of football to beat a defender on the left. But if none of these things are true, this is an incredible reckless gamble, with negligible upside and gigantic downside.

I'm feeling really bad about this, but at least i'm not the bloke who got his name printed on the new shirt for his kid. That's the only thing cheering me up right now

And I reckon Dunk and Duffy might say that no striker gave them a harder game last season.

Oh course I know your thoughts, you keep posting them on here.

Thankfully the experts who get paid to think on behalf of the club dont think along the same lines as you.

But you posted telling me how I’d feel if we’d signed certain players, you were wrong about that, so cheers for chipping in so pointlessly

Also, I hope these experts are the same ones that decided we didn’t need any players in January as we were too good for a relegation battle.

I'm a bit surprised at that.

Personally, having followed the seaweeds for 50 years, I regard the great club in the same way as Nabokov regarded art: a cleaner room on a quieter floor.

When our club was run by crooks and morons any agitation we may have felt was identifiable and understandable. Yet we still loved our club.

Now we have the smartest owner we have ever had, and a lifetime fan to boot, from a family of fans and shareholders.....after a decision that we don't necessarily understand, it is time to trust the buggers.

I too am sad to see Anthony go. There was a lot of love for a lot of reasons. He still might return. He is not slagging us off. Everything appears to have been managed....perfectly.

I don't know you but I enjoy reading your posts. A proper fan and a proper NSC contributor.

We'll be fine. All the best.

Taken away our most flair players ? We’ve sold one ..... for which at the moment you don’t know the reason.

Yet you’ve lost all respect because we’ve sold ONE player ? A player who was a class above in the Championship but ok in the Prem

At least Fulham might return the favour next season and loan us Cairney for a promotion push. Option to buy for 5M at the end.

Gentleman's agreement perhaps.

I wonder if any poster will be getting a trifecta of :bounce:s this season.

I know it's incredibly unlikely, all but impossible, but would love:-

- Big Jurg to regularly find the back of net.
- Supplied by Ali, who pitches in with a few himself
- As The Dross dances and skips past players, at will, while kissing the badge and pounding his chest.

There must be one poster and ardent Albion fan who'd be in tears at the prosper of those 3 propelling the team to the dizzying heights of 12th. :lolol:

Some top bell ends using that pathetic phrase on this thread.

Insanely I normally feel inclined to horsewhip junior for his posts (can't recall why - I just come up in hives when I see his name) but on this occasion....

It just goes to show, er, something or other. Emotion, probably.

I think its very likely something has happened behind the scenes here. To sell him for a stellar offer is one thing but to move him out on loan and so quickly after the return from the tour says to me that something has occurred that meant he was persona non grata. No idea what if anything that was but what I do know is that Potter will live or die on these decisions and if he wanted him out then he had to go....
