One thing I think we can take out of the fact we've extended is that the UK Government has absolutely no intention of leaving with No Deal. The EU are also not keen on it happening, but are less desperate to avoid it than the UK Government is. There also seems to be increasing talk of a confirmatory referendum in this timeframe.

You're seriously suggesting she got the coverage because of the colour of her skin ? Nothing to do with hawking herself around ? How many TV shows has the white gentlemen been on since the court case ? I'm yet to see him on Question Time. No, she WANTED the publicity and looked for it ...... and got it. I wonder how much she's earned out of it ?

You do use some interesting words such as whore in your previous post and hawking herself around. She has to have security now wherever she goes due to death threats.

You missed off LDC and a certain council leader ( Lib Dem ) trying get an NSC poster arrested ! Besides, I swore then I would never vote Lib Dem again ( I had in my student years ) and I intend to honour that ...... if only our politicians could honour what they say eh ?

Now if you wish to vote for a party that had members that literally tried to destroy the Albion ( mostly with lies ) then that's for you to deal with.
It has also stopped me ever voting Lib Dem. Maybe if we have Corbyn on one side and Boris on the other, I'll have to have a rethink, but I'd probably just vote independent.

So is mine ..... I just exclude the Lib Dems from any political choice I make. Their problem not mine.

If you stopped voting for a party who had filthy scoundrels in it, you would never vote again.

Only one party tried to destroy the club I support and love and despite Bakers 'olive branch' letter in the Argus many years ago I won't forgive them. Tony & co had no choice to 'forgive' because they have a business to run but it's shameful some fans have such short memories.

That's funny, I just watched a commentator say that the 6 month timeframe significantly lessens the likelihood of another referendum. I would concur as 6 months is not a lot of time to prepare and carry out an abomination of this sort.

Indirectly, yes (insofar as her being 'foreign*' was a nasty and obvious stick for the right-wing press to beat her with).

"Look at this jumped up colonial, daring to tell US what we are allowed to do. She's not even PROPERLY British", basically.

*she is of course a British Citizen

I'd agree with you she got threats etc because of that - obviously all from racist right wing idiots. I don't for one minute believe she got the publicity from the BBC, ITV, C4 and the mainstream press because of her skin colour.

As for your supposition on the single market, the Leave Manifesto stated: 'There is a free trade area zone stretching from Iceland to The Russian border. We will still be part of it after we Vote Leave.'

That sounds suspiciously like the single market to me.

I don't really understand what their point was - Iceland to Russia is basically Scandinavia, and Finland and Sweden are in the EU anyway. What were they talking about?

They perfectly describe EFTA - which means membership of the EEA, but not membership of the EU.

It does not include a customs union, but we would need an additional arrangement to cope with Northern Ireland ( the logical solution being to use the Irish Sea boundary for some checks), and to sort out customs checks at Dover etc.

We could have had a fantastic Brexit - but an unholy alliance of the uncompromising hardline ERG headbangers and the uncompromising People Vote zealots wrecked it.

You are deluding yourself, that the 'right-wing' unpleasantness came / comes only from the ranting angry footsoldiers. That reaction in itself stems from the slant put on the whole case by the right-wing agitators higher up the food chain. The right-wing columnists and headliner writers in right-wing newspapers, owned by right-wing billionaire tax-exiles.

And make no mistake, they knew EXACTLY what they were doing.

If a second referendum/confirmatory vote was agreed to be held, the EU would probably allow an extension for it as it is a way to break the deadlock.

The Daily Mail described her as:

"the gloating Guyana-born investment manager who alternates between glorying in self-promotion and complaining that her safety is under threat."

Here's but one not so subtle front page implying what they think she is:

Oh come on Westdene, you're better than this. A couple of nasty individuals who happened to be lib dems tried to destroy our club, it certainly wasn't the party.

I'd suggest that this is because Deir Dos Santos voted for Brexit. TV shows wouldn't want a Brexiteer putting the Remain view.

There's also a big difference in their backgrounds: he's a Brazilian, so English isn't his first language and may not be confident about appearing on something like Question Time. He's also a hairdresser rather than a politician - I didn't see Vidal Sasoon make many appearances on QT either.

Can't you READ? I'll repeat, "That any notion of a party is simply there so they can take part in EU Elections?"

Which policies? That's a bit vague. When you're not being whipped you can vote for or against whichever policies you want. That's the whole POINT :dunce:

The only good thing is as soon as there is an election they won't exist anymore

No, I didn't say that, my post got misinterpreted.

This was my post, following the news that we've been given another extension:
"So maybe a couple of people here will now accept that the EU really don't want a No Deal Brexit either. "

Unfortunately there can be ambiguity with our language. My point was that some said that the EU don't care if there's No Deal, and at the time I said they do care, as it would harm them. The fact that they've now given us two extensions is proof that the EU are quite against a No Deal. That's not to say I suggested anyone claimed that the EU actually wanted a No Deal. I am claiming that there were some who thought the EU weren't worried about a No Deal.

Masterful revisionism. You are to this board what Pat Buchanan is to the study of history

The referendum doesn't need to have been held by that time (although theoretically it could be), it just needs to be on the agenda by that time. That will give the EU the excuse it needs to further extend A50.

The real hard cut-off date for the A50 extension is December 2020. The next EU budget period starts in 2021, so by then it really will be "shit or get off the potty" time.
