I hope you're right, but I wonder if anyone said something similar after Franz Ferdinand was shot in 1914?

(Yes I know that's an extreme link to make, but there you go...)

Different era. Much more to lose now. Perversely this could bring the Turks and Russians closer.

Probably arranged by the Russians to start a war with Turkey. Makes access to Syria easier I suppose.

You might be confused with the reach of Alawites, Shias and Sunnis in the region. Russia has access to Syria from Damascus.

Don't be daft - Russia does not want war with Turkey, they couldn't win for starters.

Starting with the ambassadors bodyguards I woulld think

Who appeared to be nowhere to be seen ? Call me a bit cynical but, could the unfortunate Ambassador Karlov have been hung out to dry by Mr Putin as a way of engineering some kind of pressure on Turkey ? Knowing how Russia are masters of misinformation and elimination of enemies or opposition activists I would not put it past them to sacrifice one of their own for an advantage.

Perhaps a knowledge of who is allowed to carry firearms in Turkey might be a good starting point for know-it-alls!

Brighton factually.....

If the Turks can shoot down a Russian fighter jet I'm sure they will get away with this especially seeing as it will be blamed on a fanatic of some kind which will suit both the Russians and Turks...

Job done...

I doubt it. Turkey and Russia have been working closely recently and seem to have an understanding about Syria.

You might be confused with the power of Alawites, Shias and Sunnis in the region. Russia has access to Syria from Damascus. Erdogan hates Assad more than we hate Palace.

Striking amount of ignorance being shown on this thread. The lack of knowledge of this region beggars belief. If you don't know what you are talking about just don't post !
