Is the amex too small?

Got something to say or just want fewer pesky ads? Join us... 😊

So because we got 34,000 for one game 40 years ago the Amex is too small ?

76/77 would be the season we averaged under 20,000, I'm not sure that withdean nos are meaningful, and our first ever season in the top division only averaged us just over 24,500.

Since the Amex has been increased to 30K, we have NEVER had a higher average attendance :rolleyes::lolol::lolol::lolol:

Stadium correct size for eternal playoff bridesmaids, but with ambition we might need a few more seats,If we do go prem with 30,000 expect 26/27 s/t holders and as the rule with supply and demand the cost will be pushed higher than it should be. If you don't want to pay it plastic pete will be happy to take your seat for soccer at the amexico arena!:amex:

Crowds everywhere were lower in the 19802z

See what Chelsea, Arsenal, Newcastle, Everton and Man Utd averaged back then.

Our time in the top tier cannot be compared to what we would get should we ever get back there.

Northern Hemisphere.
Are people aware the 80's was slightly different to now?

What were the attendances when we played at the County ground? That'll give us a better estimation of our Prem average crowd.

I think you may find that the club did very good research into the potential of the club and have pretty much got it bang on I would say. As I and many have said far better to nearly sell out every game than have empty seats and more importantly the income generated by ticket sales when we hit the Premiership between an extra 5+K against the other financial rewards is nothing not even a blip.

Maybe we could cover the stadium with perspex glass and those that want a more relaxed feel about watching the match could lie down and watch from above ?

The club got it spot on 22k stadium that would produce income for the club unlike withdean:rolleyes: We are now getting 25ish and losing 250k per week:facepalm: I would not put too much faith in their vision :( We are lucky TB is tacking the whack for us!

You are very nearly being positive about the club. Do you need a little lie down?

The club could easily survive on the gates but would have a lower player budget which would probably lead to less success which would result in lower crowds!!! What we are seeing is TB gambling on promotion when the size of the gate becomes a little less relevant bearing in mind the income from TV.

The fact that we don't sell out every week means that we don't need a bigger stadium, surely?

It's all very well having a bigger stadium but we would not fill it week in week out and a bigger stadium would cost considerably more to build and upkeep along with stewards etc etc. I would guess that all championship teams apart from those with parachute payment are running at a loss. Probably more to do with high wages

The gamble is on Premiere football which would give us huge sky cash but also the chance to cash in 30+ crowds, depends if we are serious about becoming a medium fish in the prem or a tiddler who gets thrown back after a few seasons.Brighton has the potential to become more than a prem tiddler with our huge catchment area and a very attractive trip for away fans, attracting the bigger stage players we would have the advantage of location close to the capital. TB has done amazing things with the Albion but would love to think we could get the record attendance at Falmer in the future, Might just be a dreamer i suppose but i'm not the only one:blush:

Are you for real ? I think I've heard this before... Locate closer to London !!! Are you mad !!! I'm perfectly happy here, we fought for so long to get here & now your not happy.... This stadium was built with the premiership in mind.

You need a little nap...

Rather we had a stadium at the Brighton station site but that was not to be sadly, but they have done well with the falmer location but a few more seats would be good!

Lovely Rev, and I'm sure we all share your Premier League sentiments of wanting to play the likes of Bournemouth, Hull, Middlesborough, Stoke, Swansea, Watford and Burnley week in, week out.

What is your purpose?

All you seem to do is have sly digs about the club you supposedly support. It's clear you have an agenda about the cost of modern day football, but you simplistic ways seem to just revert back to a bygone era that thankfully most decent folk have left well behind in the 20th century.

There is a phrase I was brought up hearing and never really understood it until I was older, but it suggested one knew the price of everything and the value of F*** all. I'm afraid you epitomise that phrase perfectly.
thank you for ones input
regards
DR

If you want advice on potential and possible attendances then don't ask many on here as at least 90% thought we'd average around 14/15k when we moved to the Amex and 12k when the dust had settled....Thankfully a few like me said it would sell out and said we'd get 25k no probs when doing well in this league.

We wouldn't struggle to get 40k for home games that I'm very sure of....massive potential and a massive catchment area :)
