So you are still applying that women or children will be threatened and attacked! if they travel on public transport in Istanbul, and that the population accept this and allow it to happen. Or are these just isolated incidences that could happen on any public transport system in many cities around the world.

well I wouldn't mind my kids going on a school trip to London

Istanbul,no thanks!

We would still do all those things outside of the EU,and further have the UK as it is now....20 years from now and 20 million more people in the UK will have an detrimental impact on almost everything.

Well I have to disagree about the thousands of research and scientific projects that are funded by the EU, many cost multi millions that we would probably not agree to fund due to the extremely high costs that joint funding allows.

In my experience we benefit a lot from all this joint reach and technology, I know you are voting/may have voted OUT, but a silver lining if we do end up IN is these projects really develop us and enhance our lives and work because of pooled knowledge and skills.

As an outer I have to say I love Europe, just not politically. Lived in Spain for some time and have visited numerous countries. The continent (EU member or not) is spectacular, scenery, culture, arts. It's all of it, right there! Love it and loathe it all at once when you mix the joys with the politics.

Depends what glasses your wearing, both sides giving me ear ache

People will often want to hear their own views affirmed, but I think objectively, to a discerning and open minded observer, vote remain came across pretty badly.

Vote leave had more dignity, treated the public like they are intelligent, and treated their opponents with respect. The remain campaign did the opposite. It was honest debate vs politics as usual, and everyone hates politics as usual.

I love Europe too, and am also an Outer. I think we will have a much better relationship with other EU countries when we are in a relationship based on mutual respect and boundaries. The EU has become an arm twisting organisation for groups of countries to gang together and bully other countries into doing what they want, even against the will of that countries own population. We should have relationships with other countries in the same way that individuals have relationships. Respect each others boundaries, by all means try to convince others, but don't try to force things on others, if you have a good idea and you think others should adopt that idea too, then set a good example and show your idea is good. If it really is, others will want to emulate you. That's the proper way to have infliuence, not ganging together to bully others into getting your own way, which is basically how the EU works.

I think the format is partly to blame. This debate was moderated by a timekeeper, as opposed to a credible person (an Andrew Neil or similar) who can steer the debate, hold feet to fire, challenge speakers and so on.

when people talk about students having easier access and being able to spend time abroad studying, is this under the EU Erasmus+ programme?

That's way too personal to answer on here thanks! But anyway, I'm sure they'll be the same price either way, which is the point I've been trying to make, not a lot, if anything will noticeably change [emoji54]

Its getting tedious all this scaremongering to try and stop the scaremongering that the outers are trying to scare the inners into scaremongering the outers so they can scare us more I think??[emoji53]

Couldn't believe what I just heard on the radio, the caller was convinced that if we Leave the EU we could lose our rights to holiday pay. Is this how Remain are stacking up their votes, FFS get real.

I would also like to make the point, people on zero hour contracts get no holiday pay at all.

You hear this sort of nonsense all the time, its ridiculous scare tactics that unfortunately seems to work on some people.

I listened to Jacob William Rees-Mogg speak on the issue of workers rights and consumer rights a while ago.(some people might not like the bloke but nearly everyone agrees he is one of the best authorities on how our parliament does and should operate in accordance with law and statutes).

(Paraphrasing) he was saying things like consumer rights and workers rights that have come from Brussels are now enshrined in UK law, leaving the EU changes nothing, these rights would still apply on June 24th.
Some UK laws he pointed out use EU law as a minimum benchmark and exceed what is required. It would take a physical act and parliamentary process to repeal or amend each piece of legislation. Saying we would lose these rights is not true.

The thing is it would be our elected officials determining if laws should be repealed, amended or left alone,im sure they are perfectly capable of doing this without interference from Brussels.

The crazy thing is, remain are arguing that they like EU law today, made by unelected bureaucrats, so we should stay in the EU - in order to protect ourselves from our own law making capacity, laws which would be made by a democratically elected government.

It's so stupid, because if in the future a UK government decided it wanted to get rid of workers rights, then we simply vote them out. We are in charge. If, however, a future EU bureaucracy decides that it wants to get rid of workers rights, we will have no recourse at all. It is not about whether you like the attitudes of todays EU or todays UK politicians, it's about whether decisions like this are to be taken by us, or by someone else. The thing which risks workers rights is having those decisions taken out of our hands.

Well it seems like the result is going to be remain but at least the EU has been exposed for the mess it has become and everyone is now much more aware of the difficulties that are on the horizon.

The government now know, let immigration get out of hand and the votes will be lost.

I'm not so sure we will vote to remain, I get the impreesion remain are losing at this point, and I think democracy and self determination are more important to people than has been represented in this debate so far.
