Well, After multiple listens I will label the song as "OK". It is very catchy, the music is cool and the lyrics are good...What there are of them. But this is also where the track falls down as there is just not enough lyrics to carry the song. This is surprising considering how good a lyricist Ian Brown is so this is clearly a John Squire track.

The problem here is they are on a hiding to nothing...If they just churned out something akin to their first album they would get panned and if they try something different no one would like it.

I am hoping the song grows on me and the new album is quality...

Albion, England & The Stone Roses forever.

The trouble is with any SR track, before you even listen to it, internally my brain runs through Waterfall, Resurrection, I Wanna be Adored all at once in preparation - so almost immediately I'm not just listening to a track, I am comparing to everything that has gone before - which isn't entirely fair.

What a great song, Stone Roses fan tells himself

A FAN of The Stone Roses has lied to himself and friends by saying how much he loves the band’s new single All For One.

Julian Cook, 42, went to Facebook to begin his campaign of self-deception by writing “Great track, back on form”, before repeating the lie on Twitter.

Speaking at work this morning, he said: “It’s just a really great song. I mean it’s simple but simple is great.

“Really, really great.”

Cook then walked away from his workmate attempting to whistle the song.

He added: “I just can’t get it out of my head.

“All for one, one for all... I mean how did they come up with that? I’ve got exactly the same feeling of euphoria I used to get from doing Es in the early 90s.”

Cook then went and sat in the toilets and cried for 45 minutes.

So, what bands have come back from the dead with a monumental single or album?

Does Shaun Ryder coming back from the dead, more or less literally, with Black Grape count?

No classic that's for sure but I like it and would be a crowd please.

Everyone is just queuing up to have a pop at them for some reason.

Listened several times now. Catchy riff, dreadful lyrics, sort of thing I would expect a 6th form group to come up with in a battle of the bands competition.

No don't be daft. Different band.

If you're going to include that you'll have to include his several attempts as resurrecting the Mondays firstly as the Happy Mondays and then as SWR which were basically the same thing the latter with a few "different" tracks from his solo stuff. Both crap.

The Avalanches are apparently back in the studio so fingers crossed.

Frustratingly, they've been back in the studio for bloody years with stuff continually "imminent"

They're playing at the Wildlife festival in June. Their gig at the Concorde 2 is one of my favourite ever.

Hmm. I explained and said sorry, that's really not being defensive, you know.

No, of course it isn't. Not a hint of a sneer in the tone of your message. I must have read it wrong, and you must be right.

That's the way of the World.

I really think something was lost in translation here. No intention to sneer, upset you or anything. Once again, apologies if any offence taken. It wasn't intended.

Ok, apology accepted, not that it was necessary in the first place!
