Always seem to walk away when 4 or more down whatever the time so Brentford & Palace spring to mind early 2nd half (out of a 1000 no walk)

Leicester in 1978. I had a train back to Bradford that left at 4.40 and if missed it, there wasn't another for three hours (arriving back after closing time).

Before the game I'd reasoned with myself that it was close, I'd get the later train but if were losing, I'd get the earlier one. At 4.20 it was 4-0 to Leicester so it was a bit of a no-brainer. I missed Gary Williams getting one back for us but glad I wasn't hanging around Leicester pubs for a few hours listening to the gloating

In almost 40 years of watching the Albion just the once I think. It was Watford away when I was a student and I needed to catch the last bus. Otherwise I've always stayed to the, very often, bitter end. I was tempted to leave during the West Ham Poyet thrashing. But figured if we made a come back I'd be gutted I missed it.

Away at Barnet many years ago when we were crap. We were getting soaked in the away end and the stewards would not let us in to the covered bit there
Emeka Ifejiagwa (Nigerian we had on loan from Charlton and who was later deported as he didn't have a work permit) scored for us on (I believe) 56 minutes and we left very shortly afterwards, walked to the Northern line and sat quietly steaming on the tube all the way back into central London
Apart from Halifax at home at Withdean in December (3-4 ?) I don't think Ive ever been so wet

If only there was a pictorial record of the away end for that Barnet game.

I think the soaking may have been Rochdale.

Twice - both away at Brentford - both times we were 3 or 4 nil down at half time. Left then both times.

Left Goldstone at half time against Tranmere Rovers (early 90's) - Aldridge scored twice for them - as I was with my young stepson. It was his first game, and he quickly got bored. A big factor, though, was that he had saved up some pocket money for a Teenage Mutant Hero figure, and was desperate to get into Hove to buy it! Apart from that, I've never left in a "stuff this" frame of mind and don't think I ever will........

That takes me back - that's a game I probably should have left early from too, as I had got to Filbert Street and was queuing for entry when I realised that still wearing the jacket from the previous nights visit to the pub I had a set of darts in my jacket pocket! Now this was the days when there was a fad for hooligans to launch darts into the away supporters, there are a couple of horrible pictures out there if you want to look for them. Perversely, I then queued for a seat and didn't get searched! Strangely wasn't overly concerned about the result, more about the fact I didn't get arrested.

The home soaking was definitely Rochdale, it was the first season at Withdean. We lost 3-4 and Danny Cullip came off the bench in the 42nd min to score in first half injury time to make it 2-2 after we'd been 2-0 down. We then went 3-2 up before throwing it away in the last 10 mins. Have been drier in the bath than I was that night, lost a mobile phone to waterlogging too.

The only game I ever remember leaving early from was the planned mass walkout on 60 or 70 mins to protest against the board and the sale of the Goldstone, I remember it was an evening game but I cannot remember the team we were playing.

One of those for me, too. The game under Peter Taylor which was, I think, on a Thursday night. Left after an hour with us four-nil down. I think the game was live on TV.

Have never left a game early since.

I think I left once at the Goldstone about 15 mins early, as I was not enjoying the game and it was annoying me - at least that is what I recall. Think it was 0-0 v Bristol City. I think we must have been playing really badly, and I 'snapped'! Was a one off momentary lapse on my part, and I apologise retrospectively to the team....

I've left loads of games early, I don't see the problem with it. If I'm not enjoying the game and the pub beckons then I'll happily scoot off.

Just before half-time at Withdean when both my children were freezing cold and we were losing is probably the very earliest, would have been around 2007. At away games, I've left early for quite a few too. Palace just after they scored the second when they beat us 3-0. Southampton after we went 3-0 down in that infamous penalty that was nearer the linesman than the penalty area and I also recall leaving early after West Ham scored their 4th when we lost 5-0. I'm sure there are many others but those stick out.

Selhurst Park - Andy Johnson's game. Left after 60 mins.
Bloody pleased too - others were held in for an hour after the game....

This is the only match I've left early, or as you say, tried to. We got told at the gate by some tosser in a police uniform, my Saturday off has been ruined by you lot so go back in and except your punishment. Some guy behind me in the crowd trying to leave said, how about I take that truncheon of yours and shove it up your ass, even my 8 year old son laughed at that one.

Lol I remember as I was with you for all 3!

Remember West Ham when we were at 3-0 down hadnt even had a shot and Dan was saying "hang on, hang on" despite us knowing we would NEVER get something back then as soon as the 4th went in "come on lets go"

Left at half time for a game I think was against Derby at the amex. I remember arriving around the 25 minute mark a little the worse for wear. Got a text inviting me to a house party and decided carrying on drinking was preferable to sitting in the cold

To arrive 25 minutes late and leave at half time, 20 minutes later is pretty impressive.

and Dan having that complete meltdown on the bridge at Southampton "aaargggh! I hate f*cking Southampton. Bunch of cheating c*nting f*cking w*nkers..." and fortunately being too angry to hear the Saints fan have a go back at him.

Me too, the stewards were just starting to stop people and I got out just before.
