We need someone who will be able to play week in week out IMO. Buckley is not dependable and will now be on vastly exaggerated wages.

Quite. It does make you wonder about the due diligence of clubs who just blindly splash the cash on proven flakey players, whether it be Buckley or Balotelli.

Putting aside whether or not fans would want him back, perhaps someone can enlighten me as to the last time he played 3 full games on the bounce? I think it would have been a long time ago and having seen him twang his hamstring at Blackpool a couple of years ago the first time he went for a full speed sprint, I say let's pass on any opportunity we may have of getting him back.

It's a shame for Buckley, he was extraordinarily quick but every time he tries to properly stretch his legs his hamstring goes, it renders him a very average player.

I'd have him back in a heartbeat, running down the wing for me ... do do do-do-do

I know people on here love to dismiss ex-players as suddenly rubbish the moment they leave our club, but that is just not the case, Buckley was excellent, and would instant improve our chances if he returned.

Can we really consider 19 goals and 11 assists in 96 appearances over three seasons as 'excellent'?

I would hate to see him play for a rival Championship side. Wages are not prohibitive.

I think the answer to our striker and winger need would be Zaha and Buckley would do very nicely. Bung in a left-sided midfielder like Hélan from Wednesday and we would give Derby a run for their money.

Has he been injured a lot at Sunderland ?

I know a lot was made of the difference between our training facilities and that of the Amex pitch as a reason for him struggling injury wise.

Would that now be different as the new training facilities are open ?... or am I just being way too optimistic on his injury situation... proabably

"Injuries hampered Buckley last season and he made only a limited impact, which could prompt Sunderland to cut their losses on a player who cost £2.5m when he arrived from the Seagulls last summer."

One of the best wingers in the division when fit.Would welcome him back.

We need pace, and quality, and he has both.

The 'when fit' really is the key for me. I was sorry to see him leave, but in honesty he seemed unavailable for selection more often than he made appearances. He's getting older now, so for me I'd prefer we looked for a more reliable option. Besides I don't think we need to be paying daft money for a player who received much less (probably) then, than we would be expected to pay now.

Why would anyone take him back after he took the piss and he's got jelly hamstrings and to be frank his best days were a long time back.

Wouldn't want the **** anywhere near the club and bridcutt and many of the other ex players that our idiot fans keep wanting back.

Hamstrings are not much to worry about. Hampers training sessions I expect. However, Buckley had a knee injury at Sunderland and these can be more serious.
I don't wanting him signing for Leeds!
