There may be.

The shirt was aimed by Beckford towards the group of children. Is it his intention to pass ownership to one of them (unspecified). It is apparent to all around, no other adult makes a move to take it. It is therefore theirs to determine the ownership.

The individual then moves in and wrestles the shirt away from a boy from the group who wasn't distracted by the stewards intervention. Only he and her are left grappling for the shirt. He then gives up.

The question here is of intended ownership, and it wasn't for her. At one stage, earlier in the video, another adult is caught up in the group but tries to move away, having no intention of taking it. So he understood.

There are grounds for accusation of theft, assuming she is not the Mother of the boy(s) involved.

Who cares.............It's Jermaine Beckford(Not Lionel Messi). Its Preston NE (not Barcelona). Its League 1 Play off final (Not Champions League Final). Anyone who pays anything more than the normal £40 for the cost of the shirt is absolutely nuts. The young boys parents are apparently about to sell their story to the press and make even more money for their sob story. Its like effin Xfactor and the ''My Nan has got Alzheimer's, please let me go through coz she is my biggest fan''.

PS : Lets hope someone from Brighton is fighting over a Brighton players shirt, next May

That seems odd, will there be a market for 'relegated by Christmas' player shirts 5 months later?

I know Beckford was doing a nice thing and had a lot more important stuff on his mind, but would've been better if he'd singled a kid out and handed it to them. The wrestling match between the kids after he tossed it to all of them wasn't nice watching either - a few were always gonna end up disappointed!

Not a major issue though as the main thing was the scheming cow stealing it!

You should see it at a baseball game over here when the local pizza company launches a 12 inch into the crowd. Pure mayhem.

So why do bhafc match worn shirts go for in excess of £100 whenever they are auctioned then. A certain Paul McShane one went for considerably more.

My guess is that this woman will be hated for 48 hrs and then become a celebrity and it is rumoured* she is being lined up for the next celebrity big brother.

*it isn't, I made it up.

I didn't say they don't sell for more money. All I said was that anyone who pays more than face value for them is nuts

In an ideal world, with all the pulling and tugging going on, the shirt would have split into 3-4 pieces and they would have all stood there, with their individual bits, looking like lemons.

Watching the video, I can not see why this boy is entitled to it. He did not originally catch it, he joined in the scrum to snatch it off the boy who caught it. The woman steps in a most of the other boys gradually step away until it just 2 of them left. What makes that boy anymore entitled to it then the other boys. I would like to see the boy who originally caught it get it

Wether it is classed as theft or not, morally it is wrong...too many people take advantage of others not so able for their own profit...I speak as on Thursday my handicapped daughter was followed from the cash point, her purse taken with her weeks money for food and rent...a total of £120...if the thieving tow-rag could see the devastation on my daughters face...I don't suppose they would care as they know somebody else will have to pay for their crime.
She went to the police who told her it hadn't been handed in but if it was they would contact her.
