That's good then keep him and pay him less with a carrot as a pension within the club.

Why?

At any price why would you keep Bruno and Calde when it's clear we needed a better younger player at that positions?

We don't have the finances to pay for sentiment

Nothing to do with sentiment they still have something to give ( unlike Greer ) like I said they should be squad players and mixed with mid twenties replacements.

I don't get it with Calde. I know he loves the club and always plays with such enthusiasm and commitment. But he his not a very good right back and and even worse right midfielder.

There are dozen of threads on here asking how we are going to strengthen the squad and get us back into the top 6. Replacing sub-standard players like Calde is one way of dong it. I was disappointed when he and Bruno were offered new contracts. Not because I do not appreciate what they have done for our club, but because it is time for the club to move forward.

I think this is spot on same goes for gg.

Absolutely this. We HAVE to improve our attacking options. We DO NOT have unlimited budgets. Yes, we will have to start looking to phase out our ageing defenders sooner rather than later, but it's not no.1 priority at the moment.

the way we defended to day I would suggest it is - both goals terrible defensive errors, terrible header from halford then a through ball from greer to deeny. why did both central defenders run toward the ball at the end I mean school ball stuff.

I do hope we are not offering Calderon something derisory as it will be yet another indication of the worrying direction this club is going in. Aside from his loyalty and service to the club on and off the pitch he is a more than adequate squad player who can play at full back, on the wing and centre half if required. There should be more than enough cash swimming around now we have the expensive freeloaders off the wage bill

Neither were regular starters in Poyets last season , both getting passed it , might be ok for back up

At the very least, keep him on as a coach of some sort becuase I'd hate to see him leave the club. What an ambassador he is for BHAFC.

Would it be that bad if he left? I don't think so. No room for sentiment. If we have play off / promotion aspirations Calde can't be a part of those plans. Either way, ball is in Caldes court here.. lets not forget what he nearly did to us last time he was in contract negotiations..
Yes. It would be a disaster.

I've been Hughton-in, but if inigo leaves it will be the tipping point.

I was pro-Gus until Vicente's interview in the Argus. If Hughton forces Calderon out, then quite frankly he can go the same way.

Would you not rather have a younger, Championship level defender ? Why is it Hughtons fault if he does leave by the way ?

If we have limitless funds then let's replace every player.

I'm all for a new rightback IF we first get

(1) 2 new strikers
(2) An attacking midfielder
(3) A left back
(4) A central defender
(5) A winger

Get these in the bag, and THEN look to replace others.

As to if it's Hughton's fault, well if it's not the manager who takes responsibility then who does ? ???

Hughton has obviously said he wants to keep him, under some circumstance as he has been offered a contract. The board / Bloom / Barber will negotiate the contract not Hughton

OK, but if Calderon goes I'll lose pretty much all faith in Hughton.
