Looks like we're stuck with CMS for the rest of the season, especially if Aspinall's comment about COG -- he'll be off, if we get the replacement we require -- is true. A poster is convinced that Paddy is off too, which wouldn't be a bad thing in my book, especially if Stephens continues his return, and KLL is not too far away.
We only need to spend if there's someone decent available. Otherwise, we're much better off waiting until the summer, when we need to be rewarded with a goalscoring centre forward.

The best value players are those out of contract at the end of the season. Its a case of accept a reasonable bid now or get nothing in the summer.

Hughton said we won't be doing much more business (translation no more signings coming in). Hopefully Hughton is good enough to keep this squad up but I would have liked a couple of quality attacking players signed permanently to make sure we won't be worrying about relegation during the second half of the season.

Another damp squid transfer window after promising much and producing very little. I suppose there is the loan window to look forward to but as we as a club appear to be borasic I dont hold out much hope.

Your glass is half empty, then. I would prefer to see it as we have not spent money just for the sake if it during the January transfer window, when things are fairly difficult, and we are keeping our powder dry for the summer when we will know we will (hopefully) still be in this division - when I say hopefully, I am confident - when Chris Hughton will have a MUCH clearer idea of where we are squad wise, and what we could do, and when our considerable war chest will have grown even more through the record gates in the rest of the season.

Alright, the last point may be slightly tongue in cheek, but I do believe we will have money to spend when there is something worth spending it on.

My post was more in answer to the speculation that was posted about the need by TB to spend, if need be to keep us in this division. This was followed up with assurance from TB that this was a priority but it appears that yet once again we have failed to do so. I think that we will not be relegated but would feel happier had we taken more positive steps to ensure it.

Don't think I've seen much on here with regards to credible rumours and the window shuts soon. We've signed Best and the Celtic lad but I'm sure there will be more to come...

Anyone heard any credible rumours? I'm hoping Elliott Bennet on a permenant deal is one of the more likely additions...?

loved bennet first time round, but he didn't set the world on fire this time. if we get him lets hope he can get back to his old self and hes the right price

I think Hughton can get the best out of Benno again...

The striker that Asoinall was referring to on Sunday looks a no go now then?

Seems that way. We now have 5 strikers (COG, CMS, Baldock, Best & Colunga), so unless at least one leaves then I doubt we will sign another.
