Brighton factually.....
Thing is with Russia is that you can see why it was given and it will do a pretty decent job.

So nothing under hand about them destroying the computers or not keeping any records about the bidding process ?

As for doing a pretty decent job, maybe but what about the human rights records and their stance on gay, disabled and racial matters.

Why would "Europe" have an issue with this..? We are talking about a group of countries controlled by an institution that has failed its own audit every single year - they really aren't that bothered by a little corruption, mismanagement and a few backhanders greasing the process.

It seems to be a solely British trait to find FIFA abhorrent and much of the rest of our continental neighbours just shrug their shoulders and accept it as the norm. There are a handful of other countries that would join us but they wouldn't be European ones.

That doesn't mean we shouldn't break away and start a rival union, but I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for most European nations to jump ship until its an established organisation!

Yes, sad but I suspect quite true. I have always felt that politically the British do show that shade more moral courage and principle (not saying we are perfect!) than some of our European "friends" who would be less likely to make an initial stand. Others would join but only when they have weighed up their options and I fear that morality probably would not have much to do with it. I hope that I am wrong.

UEFA should pull out now until things are sorted with an independent investigation. Our own FA should be also looked into, maybe a public inquiry, so that it is clear that whoever cosied up to Jack Warner is outed & then we can get our own house in order.

My ideal scenario is both Russia & Qatar losing their WC's & the house of cards at FIFA falling down altogether. I would back any country that hosts the WC if the vote was seen to be transparent & fair. Surely certain criteria have to met first though, most of which are fairly obvious, none of which Qatar meet.

Well ? Should the the European footballing nations boycott or not ?
No.

If the European nations were together on this, then just leave FIFA and start a new governing body, and invite the whole world to join. Just boycotting an event (or two) only sends a message, but why send a message when we can start afresh instead?

There's no point boycotting countries, governing bodies, teams, and tournaments.
If you actually want change in football you must:-

BOYCOTT THE SPONSORS

Follow the money, greed is good.

FIFA won't listen to anybody unless they are handing over multi-million dollar cheques.

Absolutely and take a bit of time to contact the likes of coke,McDonald's etc.Let them know that until they stop sponsoring that corrupt organisation you will not be buying their products.Maybe if these companies bottom line is threatened they may hit FIFA where it hurts.

As I've been saying for months, that's what we, the fans can do. I started boycotting all sponsors sometime ago.

But the countries themselves have a lot more clout. If they left (UK, US, Germany), the sponsors would go too.

OK then - how do I boycott Visa when that's the only available option if I want to have a debit card, without changing the bank I've been with for over forty years?

No more underhand than giving out watches.

South Africa and Brazil are not great places for human rights either....

Clearly you don't if you're not able or prepared to do so.
But you could boycott Coca-Cola in favour of Pepsi and write about it on 'social media'.

Same applies to anyone of the other sponsors.

The point is that's the only way 'we' the customer can effect change.

Blatter ain't listing to your strongly worded email.
But when Mr Coke & Mr Cola, or Mr Hyandai say jump, he says "how high".
