I refuse to believe that 97% to 98% of football owning chairman are racist and won't appoint a black manager.

Is the correct answer.

The facts are in 2015 we have statistaclly more foreign chairman in charge of English clubs than ever before. Likewise, we have more foreign managers than ever before, particularly in the top division.

In light of the facts, the pro Rooney rule supporters would do their cause no harm at all if they extended the scope to reflect ENGLISH managers, white or otherwise.

Its ENGLISH managers that are losing out.

Let's not forget we have had 3 consecutive foreign managers since 2009..............does anyone think Bloom is racist?

At no point in that story is he quoted as saying "There is no racism in football". Sensationalist headline.

Apart from the very first sentence of the article. He's also seen saying those exact words 12 seconds into the video.

You might debate the context in which he said it - but said it he did.

From my own experience of watching football there is hardly any rascism in football. I cannot recall one instance of rascism at a football match I've atteneded in the last 25 years. When there is a rascist incident in football it tends to make the news because they are so few and far between. A couple of seasons ago a Sunderland fan was caught on camera making a 'monkey' gesture and this was treated in a sensational 'proof that rascism in football still exists' way rather than a more realistic 'one idiot in the crowd' way. Whenever I (frequently) watch live football on Sky and BT I never hear any rascist chanting / abuse (agree that watching on TV is not the same as actually attending the match in terms of hearing everything).

Amazing how when David Beckham was in his pomp the lack of fuss there was over the vile abuse he had to suffer about his wife and children, where were the PC brigade then?

As for black managers. Plenty of black managers have been given high profile jobs: Ruud Gullit, John Barnes, Chris Hughton, Paul Ince, Jean Tigana, Frank Rijkaard. In fact Paul Ince has managed 5% of clubs in the football league (Macclesfield, MK Dons, Blackburn, Notts County and Blackpool). The same Paul Ince who this week jumped on the 'lack of black managers' bandwagon who wouldn't even meet up with Dick Knight when he expressed an interest in speaking to him when we were looking to replace Mickey Adams.

We hear the stats trotted out 'only 2 out of 92' from '5 out of 92' last season but could for example Chris Hughton say he did a good job last season at Norwich or Edgar Davids at Barnet. Instead of hiding behind skin colour look at results. If Chris Powell had got Charlton challenging for promo all last season would they have sacked him? Would Norwich have sacked CH if they were 10th-11th in April last season?

The usual suspects like Jason Roberts and Garth Crooks bleat on about it, but have they done their coaching badges? Garth Crooks I can imagine has made a very tidy living for himself from the comfort of the studio over the last few years now and no doubt Jason Roberts 'work' in the 'rascism in football' industry pays above the minimum wage. If they are that passionate about it why dont they do their badges??

As for the Rooney rule why should chairman have to grant someone an interview just to keep the PC brigade happy. Clubs should be allowed to interview / appoint whoever they like regardless of skin colour.

Is this the same Paul Ince whose track record in manangement is not exactly eye catching ?

Nope. Can only go by what we know currently, in that right now there is only Chris Powell and Keith Curle managing in the League (so thats about 2%). Dunno about coaching staff mind, but the lack of managers does point to there undeniably being an issue.
2 % ain't that bad .What is the black population% in England?

Not the case though - the FA released the figures this week - "18% on FA coaching courses are 'black or other ethnic minorities'" and "14 of the 192 UEFA Pro-license holders"

http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/29442933

14 out of 192 Uefa licence holders is approx 7%
5 out of 92 clubs (last season I know) is approx 5% so the disparity isn't that far off. Ok I've assumed all 92 clubs have Uefa licence holders.

The fact the 18% of the coaching courses are black or ethnic should mean the proportions increase in the game but it is a slow process

but if black players arent in coaching roles, why should they expect to go on to manager roles? it would be an issue if dozens of qualified black coaches are applying for jobs but not getting them while less qualified non-black managers were. what gets me is when someone says managers should get the job on merit and in the next minute someone is saying we need positive discrimination. the two conflict and untill we just focus on the training and reason certain groups take the career options they do, we wont move the discussion on.

I find this whole thing stupid. Being brought up like I was I am not racist, if you're good at your job then you will succeed. Black, white, red or green, if you're good enough then you are good enough.

This "Rooney Rule" seems incomprehensibly stupid.

What if no black person applies for a job?
Even if someone applies and sends in a CV, there should be no indication of race before an interview anyway.
What about managers that are of Indian or Pakistani descent? Far eastern?

Why is it only one group that is singled out in this way?

It all seems horribly patronising, and philosophically flawed- positive discrimination is still discrimination.

Exactly this. He's obviously at good at getting his team together but a complete and utter egotistical tool.

I could go on for hours but there is no finer example of his arsebadgery than his dickhead, look at me routine of leaving games early. Good on Paul Lambert for refusing his handshake the other week.

Black people seem to be genetically built to be better at certain physical activities, as demonstrated in many Olympic games disciplines. Clearly, that doesn't mean that they will make good managers, but it could mean that they are disproportionately represented in football as players, like other sports, due to this genetic advantage.
Not wanting to get into any race issues, but black players are generally faster than white players, but as a team, Africa has not had a country seriously close to competing to win a world cup.
