Calling a Thai a tingtong means they are mental, stupid etc against what the MEP thought was a Little Britain insult and she is one of their MEP's, no wonder they will never have an MP
So calling somebody mental or stupid is racist now, is it? NSC had better be closed down pdq then!

Calling someone a "ting tong"just british humour...ting aling along tong chong pong :)

Just British Humour ....... which would more than likely be highly offensive to the people at whom the remark is directed. And I say this as someone who doesn't regard himself as a slave to political correctness.

And UKIP says it isn't racist.

Still doesn't offend me personally...you can call me every name under the sun about my culture or colour of my skin...I would see the fun side of it....It's humorous in my opinion.Maybe its just a generation thing?to many people get seriously offended by the littlest thing's these days.

Its like this country has a new breed of pussies that get offended by anything :)

Not PC, not a good comment to make when pursuing a career in politics, and the lady should be criticised for it. But how many, including me, had a wry smile at the stupidity of it all.

On the other hand, the professor on BBC TV South who gave his 'professional' opinion of the likely consequences of the comment, came across as a bombastic, hand wringing whinger of a right on leftie, toxxer!

You can't call people pussies anymore, because that now offends people who love cats. People getting offended over all the wrong things.

Oh, it's to do with cats, is it? I thought calling people 'Pussies' was a polite way of calling them something else!

I have spent time in france and am aware that they call - or at least used to call - is les rosbifs, after our national dish. I do not find that offensive, and appreciate it is funny.

But that is probably not a very good example. If someone is likely to be offended, it should not be used.

And when you say it may be a generational thing, how old are you? I turned 61 last month, so am not in the first flush of youth myself.

Our british humor is renown world wide...we have a sense of humor that no other country can match.
Yes I 100% agree, but not little Britain, maybe its because I hate David walliams
