If I was SH I would be looking at my phone for John Arne Riise number and talk to my old team mate as left back is our most pressing need at the moment. The midfield will provide thd chances for our strikers

Personally if TB does not want to spend it I think we owe him that ad he has put in over 100million. If all seasons ticket holders give 10% of their net wealth we could easily have a quite a few million to spend nothing stopping people doing this, always easy to spend other people money (TB) I believe TB has put in more than 10% of his wealth. TB has earned the right to run the club as he see fit and as he is a fan and very clever chap I have total faith in him.

Agree that TB has been fantastic for the club and the infrastructure. BUT the Board are desperately lacking when it comes to managing expectations. All those STHs I speak to are concerned with events this summer & the start of the season (let's not pretend the Cheltenham game gave any real positives). If the Board had not continually referred to Premier League Ready, our great crowds being higher than many in the EPL and increased prices then people wouldn't be expecting as much.

After everything we, the fans, have done since the dark days I feel we should be offered the courtesy of some transparency. At least the goodwill could remain. Things aren't in a good space currently.

Everyone says this, but of course it's nonsense. What do you think the reaction would be if the board managed expectations by actually levelling with the punters?

"We're going to treat you like adults.
There's a small-but-non-zero chance we'l walk the league.
There's a small-but-non-zero chance we'll be utter rubbish, and be relegated.
We can all but guarantee we'll be someplace in between, and if there's a tailwind, we'll make the playoffs. But probably not."

Now reduce that to a slogan. And shift seasons' tickets with it.

The fans are like my wife when she asks me if I like the new dress.
If I say no, she'll kill me.
If I say yes, she says "You don't mean it -- you're just saying that to make me happy." and then she's pissed off the rest of the day.

My attorney advises me that the truth of an assertion is an airtight affirmative defense against libel -- and a ticket to sleeping with the dog.

I think left back should be our most urgent signing.
Concur.
Even without any changes in the system that require them to play a more forward role, the only thing that kept the ship afloat last year was the defense.

Last year: second only to promoted Burnley in goals against. First in clean sheets.
That's the only kind of environment in which such an anaemic offense -- 18th in goals for-- is even remotely viable.
